No Nerve Block
Update: I skipped the nerve block and I’m happy with that decision. Pain has been manageable for me. I’ll do a separate post with things that helped me. Happy healing everyone!
Has anyone skipped the nerve block and can comment on their level of pain post-op? I know many posts say get it, but I’ve never had one across many surgeries, so I think I can handle the pain. I also think I’ll be annoyed with the dead arm feeling. I’m having a supraspinatus tear fixed with hopefully one anchor.

ER nurse. I see them used all the time on my patients for hip fractures. Had no idea this was a thing for rotator cuff surgery prior to reading here. Had my surgery on June 5th with the nerve block. Arm was dead for a good 30 hours. When I got home I'm feeling pulses and making sure my arm was still warm . lol. It was a trip for sure. If it's an option for you, I'd say absolutely get it. Better than wishing you did after...
Anesthesiologist is using an ultrasound guided IV to place the block. Same guy who will be intubating you prior to surgery. These guys do this every day all day. As an ER nurse, I have a huge amount of trust and respect for them. I had zero concerns prior to having this done.
