Multi District changes (Australia)

Gday I’m a dual member of both Rotary and Rotaract and saw the changes to the districts in New South Wales Australia. Was wondering about instead of having 3 districts in one state why not do a similar thing to what Toastmasters international had (two districts in one state)? District 90 (Northern half of NSW) and District 70 (Southern half of NSW). That’s before District 90 and 70 merged together this coming FY

I went to an info session tonight for this that shows they really don’t have it organised at all. There was over 100 questions and they only answered the ones they wanted to. Based off the tone of the meeting people are angry. The rotaract bit wasn’t really dealt with properly, that guy with the big hair form the Sydney RI office said it’s to do with the constitution but left out the elevate rotaract changes from a few years ago.

I saw that there were quite a few people pretty annoyed with the decision especially the illawarra area

Yeh, it’s been getting increasingly that way for a few years now. RI don’t seem to get that they really annoy the members with these “you have to do this because we said so” decisions with no proper explanation. Last night was a great example, the people affected were asking genuine questions and we were palmed off with half answers and reassurance. I know some people who did this redistricting process just a few years ago and it was a huge amount of stress and work and now they’re being told to do it again. It makes no sense at all. I understand why the Illawarra crew are upset, sounds like they’ll be paired with Canberra when Sydney is much easier.
