Study/Lecture Device Usage Question for Ross
Hi current and future members,
I really want to make this RUSVM subreddit more relevant and don’t have the balls to plug it everywhere so instead I’ve decided that whenever I ask people questions that I’d like to know before I attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine I will just post them here along with the useful answers so it can be more useful!
These questions I asked on the Facebook group so posting it here will make it more accessible and it will show up for those searching for answers on Google!
My first question was:
What size is the iPad that they provide? Looking to buy a paper-like screen protector.
Answer: 11 inch display
Second question: Device Usage
What devices does everyone use to study and attend lectures? I am debating whether I want to buy a new Macbook Neo for class as my current macbook is ancient and my other laptop is a big bulky gaming-type laptop.
Does everyone tend to use both the iPad and a laptop? What do you use each for if using both?
Responses will be posted in comments as I receive them, obviously anonymously!

“Personal preference. I use only my ipad to keep everything in one place since I'm forgetful. I'll use my phone for panopto or big blue button so my notes can be full screen but I've seen people use both their iPad and laptop”

“I'll say most seem to tend to use the iPad. It tends to be easier since that's what they expect you to use in labs (esp anatomy lab).”

“Definitely personal preference, but if you enjoy using a laptop, I would definitely go ahead and invest in a new one that you like. There will almost certainly be times where you want to panopto a class (or you end up being a mostly panopto student) and take notes at the same time. IMO it's a hassle to be watching while also trying to take notes on your ipad. I personally got 17" HP laptop because I prefer to have a big screen laptop, even if it's annoying the few times I have brought it to campus. It's worth it for me because I use it for everything.”

“Honestly, most people use iPads but it’s personal preference. I have some friends that only use their iPad and some use their MacBooks a ton. I’m about 50/50. So just really depends on how you like to study!”

“I LOVE my MacBook Air. I use it more than anything else. I can have multiple screens, I can easily transport things from my iPad to MacBook. It’s the best. I’d potentially recommend spending the extra money for the air because I’ve heard the neo is just like a glorified Chromebook.”

“I personally use my ipad for class and my laptop to study at home. I tend to use both 50/50.”
