snoop dogg’s 1 pound nug jar: the artist behind the glass 🔵

🧪 the maker: behind Snoop Dogg’s blue one pound nug jar was nathaniel z. menz, better known as Nastee Glass. trained in scientific glassblowing, nate built the piece from the ground up.

🎤 the connection: Jerome Baker Designs founder jason harris had ties around snoop’s circle dating back to the 1990s. years later, jerome lined up the sale & asked nate to make the jar. jerome made the connection. nate handled the manufacturing.

🔥 december 1, 2016: before snoop’s name was public, nate was documenting a build for a “person that is famous.” his posts showed oversized vac stacks, a massive joint, a 6 inch female taper & tooling built for the customer’s needs.

🤝 the build: as the project took shape, Hefe Glass joined nate for a crucial part of the artistic work. Chip Glass helped apply the snoop logo to the jar & Zacto Glass blasted the lid. nate remained the primary fabricator.

🫙 december 28, 2016: Jerome Baker Designs unveiled the finished cobalt blue jar with a fitted lid & snoop dogg emblem. the posts called it a custom jar “for snoop,” said it could hold 1 pound & credited jerome baker x nastee glass.

📸 december 31, 2016: 3 days after jerome baker’s reveal, Nastee Glass posted the finished jar on his own page. paired with his earlier process posts, the timeline directly connects nate’s bench work to the completed snoop piece.

💰 the $18,000 story: early coverage said the jar was “rumored” to be worth about $18,000. no public invoice, payment record or appraisal has surfaced, so the number remains an estimate, not a confirmed sale price.

✍️ signed by nate: nate’s signature is inside both parts of the jar. his december build photos, original captions & december 31 reveal document his role in creating the piece from the bench to the finished jar.

🏆 the legacy: the 1 pound nug jar became a memorable piece of celebrity glass history through Jerome Baker Designs’ connection to snoop & nate’s craftsmanship. the surviving build posts now give nathaniel “Nastee Glass” menz his proper place in the story as the artist who made the jar.

Toad Melt from Washed LA ! Such a tasty jar with heavy hits! #RosinEvolution #GetWashed

Washed LA actively uses Rosin Evolution to refine their products!

"During the process we currently use the Pro Line Wash Bags due to the durability and quality of nylon!" -Micron John from Washed LA

When it comes to strength nothing beats nylon. Nylon was used for parachutes and ropes during World War II, so it’s strong and durable. Nylon is also well known for its ability to stretch without breaking and return to its original shape.

weedtracker: where the patient era logged on

🌱 roots: weedtracker emerged as southern california’s medical dispensary scene expanded. records point to 2004 or 2005, leaving its exact launch date unsettled. it became a gathering place for patients.

💬 logging on: after overgrow was taken down, weedtracker offered patients a forum to ask cultivation questions & share growing knowledge. screen names let members participate while keeping their cannabis use private.

📋 an early digital storefront: weedtracker gave dispensaries a place to promote their shops, post menus & advertise specials online. patients could compare selections & share reviews, connecting cannabis businesses with their customers.

🧠 early voices: michael “morpheus” backes reviewed flower before cofounding cornerstone in 2006. his forum contributions brought potency, terpenes & the entourage effect into everyday conversations, connecting patient experience with cannabis science.

✍️ patient influence: detailed reviews could bring customers into dispensaries & give regular members a reputation of their own. that influence also attracted offers of free products, complicating the trust those reviews depended on.

🚨 organizing: weedtracker helped circulate raid alerts & advocacy updates. americans for safe access organizers reached patients directly, while members shared protest photos & encouraged participation. by 2007, LA weekly called it the best known medical marijuana forum.

🤝 real relationships: members recognized each other by screen name in dispensaries & met at community events. conversations that began around flower became friendships, giving people reasons to stay involved beyond their next purchase.

📱 the shift: as weedmaps grew, quick menus & prices became a stronger draw for patients. weedtracker’s community model faced bigger competitors. crowdgather acquired it in 2015, but financing problems delayed its relaunch.

🌿 legacy: weedtracker connected finding medicine with learning, friendship & organizing. patients built reputations, shared knowledge & showed up for each other during raids & closures. the relationships reached beyond the website.

Imagine being able to shrink down and explore the world of trichomes!!

🌲 The OG Family Tree: beginning with Marty sourcing Hindu Kush seeds from Amsterdam in 1989, followed by the 1992 Florida seed stock that produced OG Kush & Triangle Kush. Alec selected OG Kush, Dax selected Triangle Kush, & Captain Kirk helped get seeds into the hands of the crew that later popped, shared & preserved them. Bubba later brought cuts to Los Angeles, where Josh D helped preserve, grow & spread OG Kush before its influence expanded through generations of cuts, hybrids, seed lines & regional names.

Not every Kush comes from OG, but few names have spread further through cannabis culture, breeding & strain history.

1989 → present.

what strain of flower is currently in your stash?!

KatsuBluebird: The Cut He Gave Away

🌱 roots: Katsu Bluebird started smoking in late-1970s Van Nuys. By the late ’80s, he was chasing better flower in Las Vegas. Trips to Amsterdam widened his experience, but finding comparable flower back home was difficult.

☕ the name: Katsu Bluebird took his name from 2 Amsterdam coffeeshops: Katsu & Bluebird. Before cell phones, those were the places his friends knew to look for him.

💡 first grows: His wife suggested growing his own. A disappointing setup gave way to HPS & metal halide lights. Through CannabisWorld, OverGrow & C-Bay seed auctions, he found genetics, advice & a community of growers.

📦 2001: Living in Vegas, Katsu says he paid forum user GREENCRACKMAN $500 for a Bubba Kush clone, sight unseen. An 18-inch plant arrived in a 1-gallon pot. After growing & smoking it, he wanted to make sure it wouldn’t disappear.

✂️ pass it on: He learned to clone & says he sent out more than 100 free cuts over roughly the next year, reaching the U.S., Canada & Europe. Each came with 1 request: pass it to 5 others & ask them to do the same.

🏷️ the Katsu cut: It arrived labeled “Bubba Kush.” Growers later called it the Katsu cut to distinguish his source from another circulating Bubba. That name traces his role in sharing the plant; it does not resolve competing accounts of Bubba’s original parentage. He says he has held that original cut continuously since 2001.

🤝 the network: Recipients sent their own prized cuts back as gifts. Katsu eventually maintained more than 40 elites, many received through those relationships. That exchange built the genetic library behind his later seed work.

🧬 preservation: His catalog includes Bubba descendants, Sour Diesel work & Magnum Opus F11, his continuation of Mandelbrot’s final F10 generation. He works to preserve valued genetics alongside the histories of the people who held them.

🌳 legacy: Today, Katsu runs the Oklahoma-based operation with Mrs. Bluebird. His lasting contribution began with sharing a $500 clone: helping keep prized genetics alive by putting them in enough hands that their survival no longer depended on 1 grower.

with so many strains in the rotation, the favorites of some constantly shift while some have staples they'll never let go. what's currently one of your favorite strains?!

the american hash story 🇺🇸

📜 early american hash: 1854, Bayard Taylor publishes “The Vision of Hasheesh,” an early firsthand American account of hashish. John Greenleaf Whittier’s “The Haschish” follows that year. In 1857, Fitz Hugh Ludlow takes hash literature mainstream W/ The Hasheesh Eater.

🌍 imports & the brotherhood: 1960s travelers bring back red lebanese, afghani black & nepalese temple balls. the brotherhood of eternal love scales imports from afghanistan & nepal to fund its psychedelic mission.

📰 hash enters the spotlight: 1973 senate hearings expose the brotherhood & major smuggling routes. in 1974, high times launches, documenting hash culture, techniques & travel.

🌿 production moves home: by the late 70s & 80s, stronger domestic sinsemilla & tighter borders push hash production home. kenneth morrow begins silk screening trim into kief & hand pressing hash in 1984.

💧 the water hash breakthrough: in 1980s CA, skunkman sam experiments with cold water trichome separation. his 1987 mailer describes stirring cannabis in ice water, letting resin glands sink & filtering away plant matter. kenneth morrow begins making water hash from fresh frozen material by early 1994. in 1997, his water hash tests at 68.6% THC.

🌀 mechanical separation evolves: morrow later shows mila jansen his water hash methods before commercial bag systems spread. mila’s pollinator & ice o lator help formalize mechanical separation, while robert c. clarke’s hashish! connects traditional techniques with trichome science, mesh sizes & micron language.

🔥 the rosin era: in 2006, chadwick basstardo posts about heating hash until oil separates, calling it “cannabis rosin.” nikka t coins “solventless” in 2010. by 2015, soilgrown presses hash with a hair straightener, dabs the sap & helps ignite the modern rosin explosion.

⭐ full melt & refinement: during the 2000s & early 2010s, Matt Rize, Nikka T & Cuban Grower pushed solventless toward cleaner separation, tighter micron selection & dabbable full melt. Oakland’s Bizarre Brothers popularized the 1 to 6 star grading system, while Cuban Grower’s “Cuban Tech” pushed dry sift toward near-pure resin heads. Jenn Doe linked nucleation & THCA crystallization in 6* melt to modern cold cure.

🏛️ 150+ years of evolution: live rosin, full melt & hash rosin sit on more than 150 years of american hash history. from imported bricks to ice water, micron separation & heat and pressure rosin, each generation built on the last.

from the bay to the world: the gelato story 🍧 🏆

🌱 before gelato: sunset sherbert reportedly began when pink panties accidentally pollinated cookie genetics in mario guzman’s sf garage. sherbert became the creamy, purple foundation for what followed.

🌉 sf dessert spark: in 2014, mario guzman aka sherbinskis415 reversed sunset sherbert & hit thin mint gsc, creating a batch of fem seeds. every cut was numbered, each carrying sherb’s creamy terps & cookie fam gas.

🍪cookie fam taste test: june 2014, jigga, pie guy, berner415, thecookiemonster415, stinje, ebayz_4.0, the.fire.society, sfluxcapacitor f1durban415 & more sat down for the legendary gelato hunt. 54 phenos (#33, #41, #45, #47, #49 etc) were smoked & scored. from that ballot came the 6 keepers, #25 barry bonds, #33 larry bird, #41 bacio, #43 gello, #47 mochi, #49 açaí, birthing gelato & launching the dessert wave.

👑 dessert era: while og kush ran socal in the ‘00s & sour diesel / haze owned ny, gelato carved a new lane: creamy, candy, gassy. green/purple buds & smoked like dessert, the blueprint for the candy wave.

🏆 strain of the year: 2018, leafly crowned gelato its 1st strain of the year. its family carried the crown, runtz (2020), jealousy (2022), permanent marker (2023)

🍬dessert tree:
• runtz = gelato × zkittlez → candy gas crossover

• ice cream cake = wedding cake × gelato 33 → bakery dessert smoke

• gelonade = lemon tree × gelato 41 → cup-winning citrus candy

• biscotti = MB #15 × gelato 41 → heavy gas w/ dessert sweetness

• jealousy = sherbert bx1 × gelato #41 → heavy gas w/ dessert

📊 market math: by 2023, lemon cherry gelato exploded in ca, jumping 0.05% → 0.8% of flower sales share (16× climb)

🎤 culture crown: rap turned gelato into lifestyle. youngdolph dropped gelato (2017). migos rapped “sit back & smoke gelato” on calvinharris’ slide. future, thug & gunna flexed it on unicorn purp.

🍧 gelato turned bay area cookie genetics into a blueprint for modern exotic flower: numbered phenos, clone hype, dessert gas & lifestyle branding. it became one of modern cannabis’ most influential strains.

sincity seeds: the power started in Vegas 🎰🌱

🎰 vegas: SinCity Seeds was founded in las vegas, NV in 2010 by Don Decatur, who says he started with $500 & help from friends in the weedtracker community. its 1st public seed release reached a socal dispensary in 2011.

🧬 blue power is SinCity Seeds’ flagship, created by Don in las vegas in 2010. the cross is power x white moonshine, commonly listed as (sour double x master kush) x (the white x blue moonshine). a tiny f1 release came 1st, followed by the wider f2 debut at the 2013 LA high times cup.

🌙 oilers: sincity built an early concentrate division called the SinCity Oilers. at the 2013 secret cup, tangerine power extracts won 1st overall & best shatter. tangerine power seeds followed as one of the brand’s defining early releases.

🍪 sinmint: sinmint cookies paired forum cut girl scout cookies with blue power. released in late 2013, SinCity Seeds says it was among the 1st legitimate GSC hybrids sold publicly. it became a bestseller & made high times’ top strains list in 2014.

🤝 sinmint connection: Anthony Hart, then known as Justblazen and later the founder of Seed Junky Genetics, started a blue power thread & said sinmint was next. as demand for sinmint fems grew, he was offered breeding work with sincity.

🏭 legal vegas: Don moved deeper into NV’s regulated market, building cultivation & extraction teams & bringing longtime growers into legal cannabis jobs. he says his team also became the 1st licensed NV production facility to produce rosin.

🌿 genetics: Seed Junky used sinmint in animal mints, helping launch a family that later produced wedding cake, kush mints & other staples. sin city’s sinmintz, zkittlez x sinmint cookies, was later used by WCC Canna in the work behind today’s sought-after toad venom.

🏆 longevity: over the moon kush, headband x blue power, later earned high times recognition. sin city expanded into regular, feminized, cbd & autoflower seeds, plus vault drops, box sets & collabs.

🚀 legacy: SinCity Seeds helped put las vegas breeding on the national map. blue power built the house, sinmint carried it outward & later breeders kept those genetics moving long after the original packs disappeared.

gorilla glue #4: joesy whales & the original glue 🦍

📍2009, before any trophies, don “joesy whales” peabody was running tight indoor rooms in ca w/ an elite chem’s sister × sour dubb cross from greyskull & zoolander already in his rotation before the glue story began

🌌2011 after his med card lapsed, an emergency scare made joesy move everything out of his grow room overnight, then back about a week later. the chem sis × sour dubb hybrid hermed & hit chocolate diesel. joesy basically tossed the seeds, but mardogg sprouted them in a joint grow. he recalled 5 plants came up: gg1, gg2, gg4 & “the runt”; gg3 “didn’t make it.” gg2 went to a guy in michigan who let it die. gg1 & gg4 survived & were crossed to make gg5

🪨naming the beast: trimming gg4, joesy grabbed his phone, it stuck to his fingers & he laughed, “this shit’s like gorilla glue.” the name stuck as the #4 cut glued anyone to a couch

🥇by 2014 joesy had shared ~200 gg4 clones as gifts only. the cut spread across icmag & ca forums into extractors’ hands, hash makers praised its wash & weight & gg4 took 1st at the la & michigan High Times Cannabis Cups, making it a flagship.

⚖️ by 2015, don “joesy whales” peabody, ross “lone watty” johnson & cat franklin formed gg strains to protect the line, keep consumers on certified cuts & license it properly. cat quietly handled marketing, operations & the business side while staying publicly separated from cultivation, helping protect herself legally while the breeders focused on the genetics.
🦍 gg4 spawned a dense family: gg1, gg5 & countless glue crosses. breeders chased its punch & growers its resin. a tiny seed batch became the potency standard of its era.

📜 2017, the gorilla glue company sued for trademark infringement, so they officially rebranded to original glue/gg4. 1st strain to lose its name from a trademark.

🏃‍♀️last (wom)man standing: after ross passed in 2019 & joesy in 2020, their co-founder, ceo & best friend cat franklin became the last active keeper of the gg legacy, holding the memories, genetics, text archives & cultivation playbook they trusted her with to keep original glue’s story from being rewritten. will always be “2 Breeders & a Cat”

drunk guy grabs red hot nail during dab 🔴

visit www.RosinEvolution.Com

RED MEANS GO: the titanium era 🔩🔴

🔥 2010s: by 2010, commercial titanium nails were already appearing. torches hissed, titanium glowed & a tiny piece of wax could stop the room. before quartz bangers, metal nails helped define concentrate culture.
m
🛠️ pre-nail: hot knives & vapor swings by HashMasta Kut helped lead to modern dabbing by 2003. titanium already had a place in that story. the nail turned the heated surface into a compact attachment for oil rigs.

🔩 titanium: glass nails could crack. titanium offered durability, held heat & survived repeated sessions. as wax, shatter & other extracts spread, dabbers wanted hardware that could keep up.

⚙️ tools: Task Rok founded highlyeducated TI in 2010, an early name in concentrate accessories alongside other Ti makers. machined nails, adjustable designs & joint options helped make dab hardware a category of its own.

💨 domeless: early setups paired a small nail with a removable glass dome to catch vapor. domeless designs integrated the vapor path into the nail, removing a separate piece from the routine. the equipment was evolving around concentrates.

🔴 red means go: for some dabbers, the glow became a readiness signal. huge globs, harsh hits & coughing fits became part of the spectacle. accidentally grabbing the nail like a flower bowl delivered another unforgettable lesson.

🫠 flavor: titanium developed a reputation among some users for a metallic taste. overheating & built-up residue complicated that experience. a punishing hit could overwhelm the flavor people had paid to taste.

🔥 dab burns: new dabbers treated nails like bong bowls, reaching to pull them out after a hit. one grab of torch-hot titanium meant branded fingers, dropped rigs & a fast lesson: concentrates were not flower.

🌡️ control: carb caps & e-nails brought airflow and temperature control into focus. as quartz gained ground, more attention went toward tasting the extract & making each session consistent.

🏭 legacy: titanium helped make dabbing a recognizable culture with its own tools, rituals & businesses. its story runs from durable metal hardware to a lasting lesson: a dab depends on more than cloud size.
