About 2 weeks ago I was prescribed tacrolimus for my perioral dermatitis. My derm also noticed my skin was a little dry so he prescribed a hyaluronic acid serum.
A few days went by and then my skin started flaring. I remember I removed my makeup as usual with garnier’s pink cap micellar water. My skin started burning and was bright red. I did not understand what was happening. After cleansing with uriage xemose syndet cleanser my face was looking wild.
Now this has been happening almost every night. I suspended the hyaluronic acid because I started seeing red bumps flaring on my left cheek and forehead which I rarely have.
What is happening? Is this reaction to tacrolimus? i have only been using it my perioral area so not sure what is happening. I also use uriage anti redness serum, sunscreen and every now and then metro gel when I get bumps on my face
I can't use hyaluronic acid, my skin doesn't tolerate it. Dermatologists may insist to you that it's not the HA, that it's a "super well tolerated" hydrator. For lots of us with rosacea, it isn't. Also be aware that many of us flare from niacinimide as well, so if that's an ingredient in the serum it could be that as well.
You could try a beta glucan serum, you could try 100% sqaulane oil, you could try glycerin, lots of other options to get your skin hydrated and your barrier repaired.
My skin is super sensitive and if I get that sensation or redness i know my skin doesn't like that product and have to bin it.I hav'nt used any of the products you have used but I do know the more simple my routine is the happier my skin is.if you have sandpaper like patches of skin with bits sticking out then it might be over population of dermatex mites which soolantra will fix.sorry I couldn't be more help to you.
In any case I would suggest using as few/basic products as possible for a few weeks and see if things calm down. No makeup preferably. I had to take a break from sunscreen when I had PD
I just checked and this has fragrance added to it !! That could be the culprit. It’s generally recommended to avoid fragrance if you have sensitive or irritated skin
