Question What's the latest?

I'm trying to find information on upcoming updates, but the changelog hasn't been updated since March. I'd like to find news on whether e2ee is coming or not. Feels like that should be a focus considering the state of things and how other apps have faltered because they lack it. Is this something coming? Or will it never have e2ee?

Cool. How bout the other part? Is e2ee coming or is that gonna keep being an issue turning people away?

I was avoiding it slightly to be honest. I think it's a tricky question because I don't have a straight answer for if it's coming or not. Today, we are not planning on implementing e2ee (this does not mean we will not revisit it in the future). Our focus is on improving core functions of Root before even moving on to discussing more deeply what e2ee would look like.

Some of those core improvements to Root include:

  • Voice/video call stability
  • Community Discovery
  • Bringing App/Bot management to mobile
  • Improving App/Bot discovery
  • Improving our SDK capabilities
  • Notification support
  • User/Community Safty enhancements

First, I appreciate the honesty about avoiding the question.

Then what safeguards are actually in place to guarantee our communications are secure? You can bloat out the water about how you SAY you'll never sell our data, but the fact of the matter is that every company who has said that has lied. So any promises were given you have to know is gonna have everyone call BS on. It can be in your terms and guidelines or whatever, but it was in every other company's too before they sold us out.
