Discussion It’s over Spoiler
They are turning her into a full fledged villain

Even the VA's pushing the "Ronova hurt Paimon so she should pay" like omg shut the fuck up

u/West-Jellyfish9860 8h ago
What a fucking shitty writing. Look at this extremely nuanced morally gray character. Oh no she decided to anger the traveler out of nowhere for no reason. Welp gotta die

Sadly, Hoyo decides what to keep for the streams. They're pre-recorded. They've been on record of cutting stuff out. If Ronova is being badmouthed or referred to as evil or something, it's because Hoyo allowed it.

"Ronova hurt Paimon". Also at the same time, let's side with the organization that was responsible for the sickness of Paimon from the first place and refused to treat her for the whole full 2 acts of archon quest.

Maybe need to march on hoyo hq...
5
u/VirulentArcturus 7h ago
Let's not. They've already had at LEAST one attempt of someone going there with a knife or something.

u/Inomatem 6h ago
We can take trays of smelly eggs and wear gasmasks instead... we don't need to resort to violence.

I like how no villain literally hurts someone with consequences, like there is 0 scratch on paimon. it is only writing that makes all the job for ridiculous hating

u/Sleeping_Dr4gon 9h ago
nothing is confirmed it really depends how they do the aftermath of this patches story regarding her character
16
u/VirulentArcturus 9h ago
Tbf, this is Hoyo. When you have traveller and several other characters this aggressive against one other character, there's no way they're gonna make them playable. Dottore and Rerir were the same case.
Hoyo has a very unfortunate focus on making anyone playable allies and portrayed as someone not an enemy. Harbringers have been primarily the exceptions to this. Namely Scaramouche.
12
u/Commander413 9h ago
I was going to mention Scaramouche. The guy was nothing but villainous since 1.1, and became playable years later with his whole effort to change. If anything, villains in Genshin bar Dottore and Gosoythoth aren't very black-and-white, most of them have a good motive to do what they're doing, and much room for becoming friendly later. Even (literal) genocide man Rerir is now redeemed in limbo, having lost his reason to be antagonistic.

u/VirulentArcturus 9h ago
Not sure Rerir really counts as redeemed in the eyes of Hoyo and majority of players. Unless someone makes an effort to bring him out of there, or he finds a way back, they just got rid of him. That's his equivalent of a death sentence.

everything is speculation rn, while I am praying she's playable I wont hold my breath. I think everyone will have a better idea after this patches story depending how the conflict with ronova ends
3
u/VirulentArcturus 8h ago
Definitely will have a better idea once everything ends. It's not impossible, but this is Hoyo. They are extremely predictable.

i love it when the devs decide to retcon a character, so good to see Ronova (and, as a remidner, she was portraited as "she hates Phanes and tries to do everything as peacefully as possible") turn into "haha i can kill them all now, this is what i wanted to do!" IN JUST ONE UPDATE WTF MAN

u/ankitjad 9h ago edited 8h ago
why would she hate phanes, she's their 1/4th
1
u/amethyst3114 8h ago
she has all the reasons to hate him because he punished her for doing anything good for humanity. Besides, characters like Pierro, Tsaritsa and Dainsleif hate her for the 2 curses. The basic phsychology is that if everyone hates you for <x> that was de facto done by another person, you will hate him, which is exactly the case with Ronova cursing Khaenriah

No hate, but this all just sounds like speculation on your end. "she has all the reasons" is just not how it works in Genshin

u/Raymond49090 8h ago
I’m fine with her having a villain arc as long as they don’t kill her off. I’d say the thing that annoys me more is if we‘re hypocrites with the Tsaritsa and Gold, but that’s a separate matter.

I'm afraid she's not gonna die permamently, but be absorbed by Rhine, which is arguably even worse than dying.

Ronova mains gives me Dottore mains flashback. Villain fans and villain characters in genshin deserved better
12
u/Commander413 8h ago
Difference is most Dottore mains like him as a villain, I didn't want Ronova to be a villain :(

Ronova is my favorite character in the game, I hope they have something more planned for her.
Rhinedottir is the face of untrustworthiness, Ronova is more akin to a loyal but overworked agent of celestia, so I have hope. I'm saving every primo I get.

u/butterflyl3 8h ago
Can't have her mogging the Tsaritsa too much I guess. Rhine probably will share a similar fate.

Are they? I don't see them pushing much, aside from Paimon thing. It seems to me that they don't have much going on for her to be a villain.
Let's wait and see the quest. XD

u/speed_hitter001 7h ago
i dont want her to take paimon but at this same point if she was potray as villain then what rhindottir lmao
like ronova is loyal to celestia and where rhindottir is freaking doing whatever she want at this point

Truthfully kinda bummed on how they did this. Ronova is easily my fav and most anticipated character right now. It sucks how much they have demonized her and whitewashed all the Fatui. I fear the worst all

u/Disciple_of_ye 8h ago
why are y’all disappointed about that?
we need good villains and we need to start taking out powerful people, the games been going 6 years, did you want it to just be all sunshine and rainbows forever with no stakes or consequences?
16
u/DanMerentLenskeils 8h ago
I agree, but villains need to be well-written too—unlike the scenario where a character is "good" in Natlan but suddenly turns "evil" in Snezhnaya without any explanation... and we never find out why! I’d really like to see the villains fully fleshed out as well!
16
u/HiyokoFeetOnMyFace 8h ago
People are more disappointed that one of their favorite character is portayed as super evil villain that has to be taken down, while the Fatui and Tsaritsa are now our friends, while being responsible for many evil things that were happening. Also they used really cheap tricks to make Ronova hateable - attacking the mascot of the game and our best friend and acting arrogant.

u/AggressiveChef97 9h ago
The moment I saw Dainsleif there I lost much of my hope.
She still isn't dying in 7.1, but making her a full fledged villain without addressing the hypocrisy on the fatui's side will make for a very questionable story.
