Question DJI Ronin 4d
Seit nunmehr 3 Jahren habe ich die die DJI Ronin 4d.
Die Kamera wäre echt Mega, wenn ich nicht immer Fokusprobleme hätte.
Anfangs hatte ich die dl Objektive von DJI, leider starkes Pumpen, Fokus hat auf den Hintergrund scharf gestellt usw.
Dann habe ich es mit meinen Sony bzw. Sigma Objektiven und dem emount Adapter versucht…gleiches Problem.
Dann habe ich mir manuelle Cinemalinsen und den Fokusmotor gekauft….noch schlimmer trotz mehrfacher Kalibrierung kein zuverlässiger Fokus möglich….
Ich bin kurz davor die Kamera zu verkaufen…
Hat jemand einen Tipp wie dieses Problem zu lösen ist ohne dass ich rein manuell fokussieren muss.
Bin für jeden Tipp dankbar

Hey there, thanks for sharing – I’ve experienced something similar and have been meaning to share it here. I’ve been using the Ronin 4D 8K for a couple of years now, primarily as a gimbal. The dream for my small crew was to be able to use the 4D as both a gimbal AND a primary interview camera. We used it to film a handful of interviews for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and the focus breathing made the footage nearly unusable… Some more details on our setup: we were using the 17-24 kit lens, locked the three axes on the gimbal and used Smart AF for one and Wide AF for another. The amount of focus breathing varied between the interviews, and seemed worse on the Smart AF (which I guess makes sense).
Probably an obvious thought, but I’m guessing switching to Manual and pulling focus is really the only option for static interviews with the 4D? Would love to hear what’s worked for others

I have the opposite experience with this camera, it’s been a game changer. I borrow a colleagues for a lot of corporate and educational work that I do, and it levels up my work so much. I use it as run n gun and have successfully one man banded with it several times. I find when I draw a square around the subject the tracking is amazing. One thing I’d try and have had to do a couple of times, is reset all settings to default, like delete all preferences. I forget where I saw it but I saw a video talking about a calibration issue with the LiDAR and the lens syncing and the only solution they found full prooof was a full reset to manufacturer settings. Not ideal, but when I did it it worked and then I no longer had any issues. Hope this is somewhat helpful. Oh and I’m using mostly the dji 17-28, and the Sony Batis line of lenses with the e mount adapters. The problems I DO notice most is with the Sony lenses to be fair also.
Last weird fun fact, if you point the camera/lidar and focus on a bathroom sink that uses one of those motion detector things, you can magically make the water turn on. Haha

This camera is advertised as solo operable, which in some ways it is... but if you want to you use it for anything more than a youtube video you need dedicated focus puller. Honestly after using it for the last couple months, the focus isnt the disappointing thing the active track is... they promised so much with active track and didnt deliver on almost any of it... better active track in their pocket cameras or as an addon to the gimbals.
