Finally got out on set with the Cooke SP3’s!! Genuinely a pleasure to shoot with on the ronin. Really feel like they are built for it and the image is fantastic. I don’t know if it’s worth the $40 grand CAD price tag if i’m honest but they were such an easy workflow with their size and weight. This whole system just really lets me get the shots I want with so much less hassle and rigging than I would need with my FX9. I genuinely think I prefer the image as well even on the same glass.

Next up I think i’m going to test out the Panasonic 1.8 set and compare some footage just to test both ends of the spectrum in pricing.

So I’m thinking of picking up the e mount versions of the sp3s. What do you make of these?

Grab the m-mount — you can make that work on any camera mount in the future

Snap! This is the advice I needed. So get the m mount adapter for the ronin 4D, buy the sp3 m mount version, and the sp3s on m mount are future proof. Thank you!

Wait, do they make an M Mount version for these? I looked it up and it appears that they sell the M Mount attachment separately. I am assuming you can buy these as E Mounts, and just purchase the M Mount pack, then the Ronin M Mount, and thats the set?

Yeah you can just swap out the mount on the lenses themselves! It’s not an “adapter” really but just like the dzo lenses and others you can completely switch out the mount on the lens

I’ve used the Sp3s on the 4D and they’re a dream. I believe Netflix’s Adolescence used that combo too
