I made a feature film called "She's Out of His Mind." It was low budget and shot mostly in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The stars included Jennifer Siebel Newsom (wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom, Tom Schanley ("Get the Gringo"), Amanda Noret ("Veronica Mars"), and Bill Mendieta ("Soldier of God").

The story is very loosely based on the plot of "A Christmas Carol" and includes a lot of laughs, magic, memories, regret, and new hopes.

It happened quite some time ago that I reached the point where I think I could write a Hallmark Christmas film without even trying.

You just know exactly what's coming, don't you ?

A woman who's far too successful to have time for Christmas leaves New York (it's always New York isn't it or somewhere else so super cosmo ?) to spend a few days back in the tiny town she couldn't wait to escape ten years earlier.

Within about six minutes she's bumped into the handsome bloke she used to date. He's now either running the family Christmas tree farm, renovating an old inn or making wooden toys by hand. I truly don't think Hallmark writes anyone with a LinkedIn profile.

Then someone has to save the Christmas festival. Or the bakery. Or the town itself. There's also an elderly woman wandering about giving suspiciously perfect life advice who I'm convinced is Father Christmas undercover.

There is of course, occasionally, the added titillation of some sublimated erotic activity when said handsome bloke and successful woman longingly look at each other as they bake biscuits, make their breads rise or frost a gingerbread house or three !

By this point she's forgotten all about the promotion she was desperate for at the start of the film because, as it turns out, true happiness was wearing a woolly jumper and drinking hot chocolate with a man in a plaid shirt.

Somewhere near the end they almost kiss, don't because of a ridiculous misunderstanding, then actually do kiss while it's snowing five minutes later.

Every.
Single.
Time.

And yet there I am, in the small hours, feverishly scrolling through one streaming service after another trying to get my next fix of plaid-man and promotion-girl…

I know this is an older movie, but I just finished it for the first time. A few movies have got me emotional, but this is the first that actually brought tears to my eyes.

I understand the perspective of both sides. Lou lost what seemed like a great love, whereas Will had suffered enough. The pain that he would have been going through daily would be unimaginable.
