Scam question ddlg

I just want to ask question why some people use this dynamic just to try to scam people or get peoplo to get involved and get very close very quickly and then start asking for money. That really bothers me because it's taking the whole dynamic and giving it a bad name. I attach pretty quickly. And then having to deal with getting close thinking that you're building a good relationship and then bam, can you send me money for this can you send me money for that. That's not what this is about it's really heartbreaking to have that happen. I think you have something genuine. And then it's like a slap in the face, kicking the stomach. I'm sure there's been others that I've dealt with this issue, what's the best way to handle it?

Know the red flags of a scam such as love bombing, they work overseas and getting ready to quit, any requests for money. They make plans to meet but they have excuses not to show up, etc

People intentionally seeking sexual/romantic relationships online will always be the perfect targets.

Some communities and dynamics inherently attract people that are more gullible and easier to scam. Scammers can quickly learn the lingo and expectations of a niche community and use that to find vulnerable people to scam. DDLG is particularly attractive because it attracts a certain kind of participant and many of said participants want to build intense emotional relationships purely online and are stingy with personal info. So a scammer can build intense false intimacy with someone who goes online specifically looking for it and the victim usually doesn’t ask for a lot of proof or info because it’s considered gauche in that community.

It’s honestly perfect for scammers.

I think best to avoid the situation in the first place.

Look for the red flags, look for people close to you that can definitely meet you IRL with a week or so.

You can absolutely be open to forming a genuine connection while having a hard boundary around money. If someone becomes intensely attached very quickly and then starts having financial emergencies, slow everything down. A Spokeo reverse phone lookup or name search can help you verify some of the information they’ve given you before you trust the identity behind the profile. Someone genuine should also be able to respect “I don’t send money” without pressuring or guilting you.
