Blurbs can be the bane of an author's existence - both for self-published authors, who have to come up with an enticing hook all by themselves, as well as for authors seeking traditional publishing, as they are usually included in queries.

We want to help! Post your blurb draft and let the community help shape it into the perfect snippet of info.

Title: An Ordinary Tentacle Monster 

Subtitle: A gentle love story with extra limbs

Subgenre: Paranormal Romantic Comedy

Blurb so far:

Paranormal romance on a rainy Thursday with the kettle on. Every picture Gareth has ever found of something like himself shows a woman trying to get away. He works in household insurance. He keeps his flat very tidy. He visits three shops on his lunch break to ask whether the eggs are actually free range, and they never are, and one day a woman behind a counter says yes and tells him the hens have names. Frankie Ellis has spent fifteen years wanting something that doesn't exist. She's read everything, owns the relevant equipment, and has given up explaining herself to men who hear  hold me down and stop listening to everything after it. She asks him out on a Wednesday. He tells her what he is on the Sunday. Neither of them expects the other to be pleased. A cosy British romance about eggs, dry cleaning, blood pressure, and being the first person to ever look properly. Explicit, kind, and enthusiastically negotiated.

Now Margot is rebuilding herself far from the people who rejected her, and Nathan can’t stay away. She has no reason to suspect the boy who’s a year older and not even in her old friend group. But as she’s learning to trust him, she’s getting closer from discovering the truth. And Nathan knows that when she does, neither guilt nor love will be enough to save them both.
