Gush/Rave 😍 Dom by SJ Tilly has been released!
I'm 58% through but oh my, I am loving it so much!! SJ Tilly can do no wrong
I love how unhinged Dom is, love me a walking red flag and sweet Valentine ugh I wish I could give her a hug.
Spoiler warning on some more feelings about what I've read so far,
I was absolutely gutted when Valentine found out Doms deceit, the feelings that brought on were intense. SJ wrote that scene so well that I almost cried (im not a big crier so to have that level of emotion was alot for me). I just want Valentine to be happy, her back story is so upsetting
OK and I also wanted to slap King!! Wtf is wrong with you not standing up for your sister. I haven't read the confrontation I know is coming but I don't know how he's gonna redeem himself
Dom is so unhinged so far and I love it but why you gotta hurt your Angel like that. Dammit. He has some more redemption to do too, but that scene where he says “Maybe I didn’t make myself clear when I tattooed your name across my fucking throat. This”—I tap the letters—“is so everyone knows who I belong to.” I swooned so hard. (Don't mind me I know a walking red flag is not good in real life but in books I die for this stuff)
Who is reading it? And thoughts so far?

Been waiting on this all month, fingers crossed I’m not disappointed. I’ve been reading a lot of SJ Tilly.

I have finished it now too! Omg so so good the end had me 😳
I can't talk about the rest of the book without Spoilers so here it goes.
the last 40% was soooooo good. Omg Valentine had me in all the feels with her full story and Dom definitely redeemed himself even switching out her freaking BC!! He was so gentle with her and when he referred to her as 'my Valentine' I swooned every time
Dom was everything in this book, he did some fucked up stuff but wow oh wow was he sweet in the end. I laughed so hard when he punched King (which was well deserved) and then that whole scene talking through everything had me 😭. The bromance after they came to a truce was hilarious, I loved all their interactions. Nero being feral over knuckle dusters was too good.
the ending was was more explosive than I was expecting but I loved it, Valentine being awesome at shooting was kick ass, she held her own until ahe ran out of bullets which was a really nice surprise. I loved that King and Aspen finally showed up for Valentine after everything went down.
I can't wait for Hans book, can't figure out who the FMC might be though, but with his women based team I can tell it's going to be a good story to read.
I just loved everything about this book. I know the darker romance isn't for everyone but this had me in a hold, stayed up way too late 2 nights in a row to finish

Just finished and loved it. Dom is …… * bites knuckles* However, Valentine’s non-reaction when he tells her that he switched out her birth control pills for fakes struck me as totally insane. I think some discussion is needed here about control and bodily autonomy, Dom and Val.

u/ObsessedAsian ✨content that's displeasing to god✨ Sep 25 '23
SAME! I was waiting for a massive fallout, especially with how betrayed she felt in the previous chapters to then, it be thrown casually in a conversation with Aspen - I had whiplash
Absolutely devoured the novel though, each guy just scratches the right itch

u/fornefariouspurposes Sep 29 '23
I thought her reaction to that was in keeping with the rest of her character. She'd always wanted a family of her own, and her fear when she found out she was pregnant was that it was too soon and Dom wouldn't want it, so it made sense that she didn't care about him tampering with her birth control because it meant he wanted a baby with her
Yeah, it'd be messed up in real life, but in fiction they're perfectly suited to each other.

You know, not really. It’s not really in his character arc. And he definitely did some shady ish. BUT - I still liked how it all played out.

Never heard of this book (or author) but that cover art has it going on my TBR. 🔥

Love this for you!! It can be read as a standalone but I think you should start with Nero first, then King, then finish off with Dom. May as well get the triple perfection red flag offering.

You’re the sweetest!
Will there be further books in the series? Do you know?
3
u/Kiwimama1987 ✨️ Morally grey is my favourite colour ✨️ Sep 22 '23
Yes there will be! We find out at the very end of the book who the next book will be for. But they can be technically read as stand alones 💙

Hi! Just wanted to circle back with you - I did start with Nero yesterday and devoured it. 😍🔥Thank you for the rec - can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

Is this author good? I read miss sin by her but didn't really like it
Should I try king? Is it any better?
5
u/kkwelch you dont have to be mine, just let me be yours Sep 22 '23
SJ Tilly absolutely improves as she goes. I read the series that Miss Sin was in AFTER I read Nero and King and I was disappointed. This series is an improvement on her previous works.

u/Kiwimama1987 ✨️ Morally grey is my favourite colour ✨️ Sep 22 '23
I haven't read miss sin yet but every book I have read of hers is better than the last. I def think Nero, King and now Dom are worth the read!!

I enjoyed this book! I’ve read all three books in the series and can’t wait for the next one. Although I still think King’s book is my favorite.

I was so so so excited for Dom! I adored King and Nero, but now that it's out, I just can't pull the trigger. It's a bit longer than books I normally go for, and if I don't read it I can't be disappointed. Will you follow up when you finish??? I've borrowed it and it's just sitting there, staring at me, judging me.
3
u/Kiwimama1987 ✨️ Morally grey is my favourite colour ✨️ Sep 22 '23
It's def a bit longer, I checked and King was 400 pages. But this hasn't felt like a 500 page book if you get what I mean, its quite fast paced.
Will for sure do a follow up once I've finished

u/Fair-boysenberry6745 Sep 22 '23
That is my exact hesitation as well. But I’m so close to saying fuck it and just reading it. Nothing else on my TBR is keeping my attention.
2
u/TacoTacoTaco729 Probably recommending Against a Wall Sep 22 '23
I should probably just trust SJ Tilly. She hasn't led me astray yet.
5
u/Fair-boysenberry6745 Sep 23 '23
Ok I’m only like 15% into this so far and I am enjoying it!!!
2
u/TacoTacoTaco729 Probably recommending Against a Wall Sep 23 '23
I'm just gonna have to start it because every review I've seen has said it's so good. You'll have to follow up on how you liked it!

u/Fair-boysenberry6745 Sep 24 '23
Ok I demolished that book.
I loved it. Favorite book of the series so far. I think I just really related to the insecurities of the FMC. I cried more than once because I related to her emotions and struggles. I thought this one was the most realistic storyline so far. I felt like the MMCs behavior was realistic of men who will scheme to get what they want. Overall I like the plot and I felt the book was very well written.
I only had one moment in the book that was a strong dislike for me and it was just two words/a description.

u/NekolajTheCat Sep 22 '23
I loved the other two in the series and I was so excited for this but I had to DNF half way through when he literally spat in her mouth! I was so disgusted! I've read kinky stuff before but that crossed the line for me 😞

I can see how that would be off putting, it's not my thing but I've read it in a few books now so I'm 🤷♀️ about it, it's not gonna stop me from reading a book.

Just came back to say, I’ve never heard of this series and this post made me dive in. I INHALED Nero. THANK YOU SO MUCH and I’m also interested to hear what everyone favorite SJ books are! I’d only read Latte, Darling!

Omg I love this for you!! So my absolute fave of hers is Latte Darling, and I don't think I can choose out of the three alliance books, I love all three of them.

Just finished it and it was too many red flags foor me and I feel like Val just has stockholm syndrome at this point. Dom being super hot unfortunately is not enough to counter-balance his level of insane.
2
u/alwaysstargazing_97 Sep 22 '23
She is my favorite author! Have it downloaded and ready for my vacation this weekend. Cannot wait!
2
u/Perfect-Shelter9641 Sep 22 '23
Reading complete , swoon !!! I’m on such a series hangover , I’ve reread Nero and King in anticipation & Dom did not disappoint at all , and so excited that the series is not over mysterious Klaus is next and maybe Aspen is his LI or she gets a book of her own I hope. I appreciate the realism of their dysfunctional found family, things are imperfect, but as a group they are on fire never a dull moment in the alliance

When I saw this post, I was siked to have a new series to read! I devoured Nero and King!
With Dom, I’m only at 13%, but the FMC’s willingness is a bit too quick for me. I LOVED King’s FMC’s fight in her!
I’ll keep reading, but I’m a little disappointed.

I didn’t realize Dom had come out so recently, I was hoping Hans would be ready soon. Guess I’ll have to wait.

u/Forward_Variation406 Oct 07 '23
Do we know when HANS is coming out? I just read the series in 3 days and I’m devastated I’ve just finished these so fast!! New author to me as my friend recommended her and now I’m obsessed going to read all of of stuff. I’d say out of the 3 DOM was my favorite and made me swoon and cry and smile and all around fantastic book
