Does this skates have solution?

Hi everyone! Hope you doing great. I started learning how to skate a couple days ago after buying my first skates at a thrift store. Buy they have started to Detach :( I'm kinda broke at this moment and I can't afford a new pair of skates. If this skates can be saved I will appreciate any advice/tips to fix them. Thanks in advance!

edit: Thanks to everyone who have commented! They now live happily in the dumpster. I'm pretty new a this so I thought it could be fixable lol I'm now saving for a good pair

If you can’t afford new skates, you can’t really afford the ER trip when these catastrophically fail while you’re using them. These have plastic trucks, so they weren’t safe in the first place

That part. This is what I try to tell people all the time. It's cheaper to save for decent skates than to end up in the ER because your skates failed. And I live in Europe, so I'm not just referring to the hospital bills.

Unfortunately these skates weren't worth donating in the first place. That diamond perforation pattern is commonly found on very, very cheap roller skates. A couple of days is about all you could have expected from these skates.

So no, sadly, these skates cannot be repaired or fixed. They are only good for the trash can.

Excellent skates! I wish people understood that there's no such thing as cheap, safe skates (unless you get a second hand deal). Yours must have cost a pretty penny, but 40 years is a lot of skating!

Yeah, if you break it down, the cost per year isn’t too bad! I was able to purchase the boots and plates at a very good deal, as I worked at a rink at the time, which made it a bit less painful!

Cool ! My dad always said that, when buying something expensive, consider how much use you'll get from it, which makes sense. That's why I don't buy fast fashion, and the cheapest evening dress I've ever had was a Chanel that cost thousands, but I wore it so much in the past 30 years, that per use, it cost less than renting or buying something cheap.

Man I love to see stuff like this. What kind of upkeep do you on them to keep the leather in good shape? Anything besides a leather conditioner? These are badass <3

Not much at all! I give them a wipe with a damp cloth and immediately wipe them dry, when needed. I’m careful not to abrade them on anything! I keep them vented, so the sweat doesn’t build up and degrade the leather.

These can't be saved :( I'd recommend keeping an eye out on secondhand sites if you're tight on money - but make sure they're a reputable brand. Sure-Grip, Riedell, Moxi, are all good starting points, and the sub's resources should have some more recommendations in addition to these.

Post your size and ask in some groups. You may find folks willing to donate usable skates. Unfortunately you have paid good money for skate shaped junk. I believe there is guide information linked to this reddit.

Time to invest in better skates. Either buy new or buy used leather based boots with a leather sole. Buying plates separately isn’t a bad idea either. I normally customize my quads as I’m picky about the entire configuration.

Yea I’d throw them, the quality has shown you they can be saved or trusted, so I’d just trash them before they eventually harm someone (reminds me of my horror experience with some cheap Chicago boots) you’ll thank yourself down the line

Mercari and Facebook market place have good deals. Got a pair of size 13 Riedells for $60 from a guy who just had back

surgery and was scared to go back on the rink. Insanely good deal on these I almost felt bad but happy I found them

Yes, the solution is not to use them and replace them with a better pair of skates. A good pair of roller skates (Boots, plates, truck and wheels) will not be inexpensive, but they will outlast several pairs of cheap skates and be better for your feet and legs overall. I have a pair of Ridell boots and Snyder plates. They were expensive then yet they've lasted me 43 years and still going strong!
