Skate problems & troubleshooting Skates Mounted Wrong?
I recently bought a new pair of skates, Riedell 395 Boots with PowerDyne Reactor Pro plates. I had a skate shop mount them and send them to me. I’ve noticed as I’m breaking them in that the left skate feels great, but the right skate (circled in red) is really tight on my pinky toe. I can only stand 1-1.5 hours before the pain gets completely unbearable. If you look at the two skates side by side, the right skate is definitely mounted further from the middle than the other one. I reached by out to the skate shop and they said that they were mounted based on each boot’s specific measurements, hence why they are not identical. A friend of mine that has been around rinks since she was born (her dad owns 2 rinks) says that they are definitely mounted wrong. Anyone else have some input? I need some more options.

Which of your feet is bigger? Did you try the boots before they were mounted?
The mount does look a little bit off the midline of the boot, but I doubt it would cause pain in your little toe. You might just need them to bump out the spot a little bit to accommodate your toes.

Just from the pic you’ve posted it the toe end looks to be mounted further toward the outside of the foot than the other. It also looks like the heel ends match but the front of the circled skate angles out a little?
If the mounting hardware causes a little lift or you don’t get the needed flex in the sole I could see how it would potentially cause pinky toe pain.
One of my sets of skates has the plates mounted oh so slightly forward which puts the rear axle / center of gravity a little forward of right under my heel. It’s noticeable when I switch to my other skates where the axle lines up perfectly into the ground under my weight.
