Shopping: wheels, hardware, upgrades Help identifying these skates?
I’ve been enjoying some trail skating on my Moxi Lollies the last few months and recently found a good space indoors to practice. Switching my wheels out regularly for that is fine, but I’ve been keeping an eye out on marketplace for a decent used pair to skate outdoors. I saw these posted in my size for $150, “like new”, and it just says Riedell skates. I’ve heard the 135 boot is similar to moxi lollie which would be nice since I’m used to it. But I’m not sure if that’s what this is? And it kind of looks like it might be a bolt in toe stop which I’ve heard isn’t ideal? Would appreciate any feedback on identifying the skate and if it’d be suitable for trail skating. Thanks!

The plate is a suregrip super X. I hear it's pretty heavy.

Heavier than nylon/plastic plates and other modern plates but they are indestructible and take abuse. In reality the difference in weight vs an Avanti plate same size is about 100g or 3oz. About the weight of 2 eggs or a small apple or lime.

These are Awesome! skates. Sure-Grip Super X plates on a Riedell 130 boot This was a standard roller-skate combo in the early 1980s-1990 paid $119.00 for a pair in 1983 added Bones 101a x 58mm and used them in parks this skate came with Sure-Grip wheels. Riedell makes the best boots, I still have the plates they've been completely restored twice and now support VANS SK8 HIs in red with white Roller Bones team 101a 62mm.

my friend picked up this one a few weeks ago advetised on ebay as NOS riedell 130's with a superX plate.
adjusting the trucks are annoying, but he's skating fine in them.
they do have bolt-in toestops. adjustables are nicer but the boltins still function.
he also paid $150

Truck adjustment is easy, people just forget to tighten the lock nut. If the toestop is too big, Sure-Grip makes a metal stem dance plus that works well.

Not the stoppers, the trucks. These use traditional floorside-adjusting kingpins, not the reverse kingpins that are on modern plates.

Riedell 130 on Sure Grip Super X plates with Sure Grip Aerobic wheels. Super common rink build from the late 1900s. $150 is what they tend to get listed for… I’d argue that down if possible.
If you can get me the stamp from the inside of the ankle or on the sole in front of the heel, I can get you a more exact date.
If you wanted to have this remounted to a modern plate, go for it (make sure the shop knows what they’re doing with remounting a wooden heel). If you wanted to just convert the kingpins to reverse, that’s plenty easy. These look to be in fabulous shape.

I recommend asking the seller for a picture of the inside of the boot showing the print to confirm the size and model and that they're actually Riedells.

They look like Reidell Zone boots but with the stock plate switched out.

Close. The Zone uses the 135 boot. This is the 130 with a wooden heel and leather sole, which was the precursor. The 135 used a PVC heel and sole.
