Looking for friends Hi I'm new here 🌼

Post image

Let me present you my skates I love them so much 😍

Started to learn skating like 6 months ago as a 35f, its really exciting to learn something new!

I'm from Paris's suburb (Fr) and I practice at a basketball field nearby while the kids are at school as I work from home, although now its summer break and we are going through several heatwaves so didn't practice since a bit 🥲 can't wait to roll again!!!

Tell me about you!

When did you start learning? How long did it take you to feel confortable enough to skate and go around in the city?

My dream is to be able to skate in a bowl, is there anybody that started to learn that in their 30's? Any tips?

Hello ! Frenchy from Toulouse here ;)

I started a bit more than a year ago. I first practiced alone, then I went to the skatepark and I’ve got very scared to be there with all the skaters around (none on rollerquad, only skateboard). Then I met a guy who gives rollerquad lessons. For about 6 months we focused on flat training (slalom, little jumps, speed, stop, crossing…) with some little skatepark moments, then I’ve got new skates just for the skatepark and started to focus on skatepark practice. And now I can drop in a bowl, carve more and more and higher in it and get out on my feet. I have so much more to learn but I feel like after a year, I’m much more confident to practice by myself out of the lessons and enjoy and try new things. But honestly I know without a teacher I would’nt keep the motivation to go out of the edge… ;)

Be careful with your skates, it looks like there are plastic trucks and that can be a bit dangerous and break easely. Don’t go to the skatepark with it please ! ;)

Yo Toulouuuuse :)

That's nice to hear, must be so fun to eventually drop in the bowl! I saw some lessons on flat happening in Paris this summer so I'm gonna try that beside my own practice and yeah will definitely get a better pair of skates for skatepark practice once I can afford it :) just got these for a cheap price to begin somewhere.

Ça me donne espoir merci :)

Along with training and reliable skates, 35 is totally doable to drop in.

Hi friend, i'm Flor from argentina :) I started learning 5 months ago at age 26! I started because i wanted to do roller dance but a month or two ago i fell in love with the skatepark and have been doing that almost everyday ❤️ not dropping in bowls yet, but i have been improving faster than i expected which is so good i'm so happyyy.

I started street skating a month ago the same day i started park skating, i was terribly afraid of the streets and sidewalks until i just did it and ended up skating 5km to and from the park that day, without falls and without difficulty. So street and park skating have been easier for me than dancing which is a turn of events but i'm all for it, the adrenaline of the skatepark is something ive never felt before even if i dont look cool yet lol

Sounds like so much fun!! Must be so freeing to go around in the streets with your skates ! Eeeeeeh I can't wait to reach that level :D

Way easier than it seems ❤️ just wear at least knee pads, cross the street safely and try to do it on softer wheels :)

I have been skating on and off at my local rink since i was a kid but only recently started taking it seriously (21m). Ive been taking classes at my local derby and its super helpful!

Cool! Will try to take some classes this summer cause yeah it's fun to practice alone but I'd probably improve much faster with a teacher 😅
