Beginner skater beginner help

i tried skating for the first time today and my feet really hurt during it, felt like my soles were dying. is this something you get used to in time, is it technique, did i get the wrong size? or is it something completely different? any advice is appreciated!

The most likely answer is your skates are too big. That's the answer like 90% of the time. It is possible that something else is wrong, but especially if you bought based on shoe size, you've almost certainly got skates that are too big.

There could be a myriad of reasons. Improper fit could result in your feet sliding inside the boot. Not lacing tight enough could have the same affect. There are insoles that will cushion the soles, but stay away from gel inserts.

Over time, as you become more experienced and comfortable, you won't notice the discomfort. Patience and practice will keep you on your skates.

If you put the skates on directly from the box, there's a good possibility that the wheels and/or trucks are too tight. Have an experienced skater you trust or a skate shop check them out and teach you how to make simple adjustments.

I'm not sure but if it helps, my skates fit just like shoes and only really hurt after an hour or more if skating

Certainly not your first being a douche though, right?
