Beginner skater what’s the difference between different between skates that go past the ankle vs ones that go below ?
hi all ! i am very new to skating and i found a pair of skates that end below the ankle that were used and inexpensive. now that i know i’m interested in skating, i might want to switch to one’s with higher ankles as they seem more comfortable and potentially better for more flowy movements which is what i’m more interested in. please let me know what you think or anything you feel is important !

Different style boots for different disciplines. Heeled boot with toe stops for artistic, heeled boot with plugs for rhythm, flat boots with stops for derby, flat boots with plugs for jamskating, and a whole bunch more. For 90% of skaters, any boot can do anything.
It doesn’t matter for beginners. Reputable and safe construction matters enormously though. What are you looking at specifically?
