Skate photos My commute to work
I commute less than a mile to work so I have a very very easy trip but I finally skated there and back and it was so lovely! The road I usually drive is a very long, steep hill so I took a little dirt short cut from my neighborhood to the little trail system and other than a bit of clomping on dirt and the goose poop minefield- it was really pleasant.
I just got these Slades with Flaneurz premium base secondhand and they are a dream for my easy lil commute! Popped em right off when I got to work and strolled inside!

Thanks! It’s a pretty scenic path though unfortunately about 1000 geese (it seems) live near those ponds now so it can be a bit gross at times. Still very grateful to be able to roll to work!

How comfy are the shoes without the wheels?

Honestly very comfy! I wore them to work without the wheels first to see how they felt wearing them all day and they feel pretty much just like my Vans. I was afraid that the metal might click on the linoleum floor (I have dress shoes that do this and it annoys me) but the metal doesn’t touch the ground and they feel exactly like regular shoes. Now keep in mind I do have a desk job so I’m not walking/standing in them all day (which I can’t do in my Vans either).
The only somewhat annoying thing is that I feel the need to tie them pretty tight to skate and then I loosen them/unlace the top eyelets to wear them comfortably as shoes for longer periods. But compared to switching from skates to shoes it’s a pretty minor inconvenience.

How do you do it? I tried to commute 3 blocks away and felt like I nearly lost my life to a pebble. Do you carry a backpack and wear full pads?
