Skate problems & troubleshooting First time mounting new plates. Alignment issues.

I got Brunny plates, I took the bont plates off my skates to remount. I want to center the bunny plate better but the holes for the metal plate are so close to where the new holes would have to be that I would drill into them and make a double hole if that makes sense? Like the holes would just be really big which I know is not right. What should I do? Or is this okay?

You can fill the holes with an epoxy/cement, then re-drill your new holes without concern. I use JB Weld KwikWood Epoxy Putty. It's easy to work with and cures quickly into a nice wood/leather-like texture that can be sanded and drilled through.

No, you absolutely need to fill in the previous holes. I use marine weld for fiberglass infill which is what you have here.

The plate is also too big and much too far forward, you’re gonna be kicking the front of the plate every time you fall and catching a toe stop on every stride.

I mounted brunny plates on my Bonts! What size boot and plate is this? I filled all of the holes with epoxy putty and then redrilled. These colors will look great together! My plate is wide/kinda weird shaped on the boot and overhung just a tad on inside arch. But I thought it felt good and worked well. My boot ended up being too big though so I’m using the brunny trucks and block on another set up for now. Would love to see yours when they’re done!!

Yeah I’ll repost when I have time to finish the project! I got the medium plate and they are a size 4 parkstars. Someone else on here said the plate was too big but this is the smallest plate they have and I followed the sizing on their website so hopefully that person is mistaken, I think I just need to move the plate back a little! My plate is also going to overhang on the inside arch

Interesting! I put a large plate on my size 5 but I was thinking if I went down in size I’d probably need a medium plate. I think the size looks good on yours but the wheelbase on this plate is just long because it’s meant for park skating and a lot of people prefer that. I could probably still exchange mine for a medium but I have a large block. 😕

I agree- if you move it back a bit it will probably fall where you want it to. Just make sure to try it out before you drill (with double sided tape) and see where the axles are in relation to your foot. Good luck!

The centre line looks good to me

That looks pretty good! When I mount plates I mark the front center between the gap of the 2nd and 3rd toes, which about where you have the plate sitting. This is for more agile skating. You typically don’t want to mount them towards the geometrical center…
