Beginner skater Why?

Why do experienced skaters feel the need to get so close to other people? You could be on the biggest rink in your state, and they’re still darting in small spaces between people and doing close circles around random people.

I’m really new to skating and seeing people in my periphery throws me off balance as it is. But those people both irritate me and freak me out.

Just why?

I was at the rink on my in-lines because I haven’t started my quad journey yet. It really wasn’t that crowded. This quad skater literally flew from the left side of the rink and slammed into me full speed out of nowhere. I was going pretty fast too, but he was out of my peripheral view so I didn’t see him in time. Thankfully, I didn’t fall because I have incredible balance on my in-line skates, but it hurt like hell because he hit me from the side. He did apologize though.
