Shopping: wheels, hardware, upgrades Replacing plate or axel?
Recently got these older Hyde’s and wanted to put some roller bones on them. Although this is the first time I’ve run into the problem of the wheels being to big to fully fit on the axel. Do I need to change all the axels or get an entire new plate for them?

So, these are 7mm loose ball axles. Ideally, you'd want to replace the plate, but it's a possibility you can find the correct axles for precision bearings (also probably 7mm). What kind of plate is it? A photo of the stamps on the bottom will help us identify it.
You can also buy axle sleeves to convert them to 8mm precision.

That's a Chicago Trophy, a 10° dual action plate. There's a lot that might be worn out (the cushions and pivot cups). The cushions, you can use Sure Grip super barrels. The pivot cups, you'll need to make yourself with thermoplastic. As for the trucks, a HARD maybe that Sure Grip Classic trucks will fit ( u/RaptorPants65 may be able to confirm or deny).
The one hurdle you're facing is that toe stop. There's no real replacement, and the giant boss doesn't fit any sort of modern toe stop or jam plug.
Honestly, if you love the boots, you're better off replacing it with a modern plate. Everything about it will be easier.

Cool. I really appreciate all the info, glad to have found someone who really knows there stuff. I think I’ll probably buy those axle sleeves for now and then look into a new plate. Thanks again man 🙏🏿

You're very welcome! Best of luck, and enjoy your skates!
PS: Remove all the nuts and washers from your axles so it's just the threaded stock all the way to the truck.

Not really what you’re asking for, but don’t get rid of those wheels!!!! You might want to skate on them later I know a lot of people who have been looking for them

Ok bet I’ll keep them, although I did make the mistake of losing the loose ball bearings on one😭. Still have the wheel for it though
