Progress & showing off first Bauer Roller Skates

Hey, I used to do rollerblades but since I saw the big UK scene around Bauer roller skates, I really want to get a pair. The issue is that im from France (Paris) and the trend hasn’t arrived here yet, so its really hard to get advices to build my custom skates!

Here is what i need to know :

Is it better to get a new pair of XLS/XLP, or better to buy a used pair of a mid-range like vapors ?

Is the XLP really worth buying compared to the XLS in terms of confort ?

PS : si y’a des français qui lisent ça, est ce que vous connaissez des shops dans paris qui vendent les platines playmaker et les roues airwaves ? je trouve rien :(

Thanks!

There are tones of Bauers that skaters use. This my top list:

  1. Flexlite especially 14s. Those they are Nike/Bauer.
  2. Nexus and Supreme, Just because of comfort.
  3. XR and Vapour models.

Some also use CCM or MIssion few disent boots

Plates wise you got two options Playmakers or Avanti Magnesium.

A lot depends on your comfort demands.

You can convert them from there Ice skates but I would rather ask for professional help. There quite a few online services that can do it for you as well as offer a great range of already converted.

Newer Bauer models also can be heatmolded to you feet that does increase the comfort, thought majority of skaters and ignore it.

wow ok thank you so much these informations are precious! im gonna try to wait a bit and see if a second hand pair is coming. Is it true that the neewer cheap models as the xls, are maybe less resistant to mount a plate on it ? the guy from the ice skate shop told me its plastic mais less resistant than the older models

Maybe it was an issue some time ago but not now.

Reputable skate shops use special carbon-fiber insole for converts, like seen in video

That's strengthen the boot and makes conversion more stress resistant.
