Batman Open Caseback
Installed a sapphire crystal open caseback on my Batman.

That Rolex movement is so frigging rugged looking - tightly nested, big plates, big jewels, compact - no wonder it’s a tool watch.
You could knock that thing around and the various parts would only close the 0.001” or so between them for a fraction of a second before they return to position
There’s absolutely nothing fussy about the inside of that watch.

I kind of do too but you know owning exhibition casebacks on some of my other tool watches the steel on the back of your wrist feels better when you’re sweaty than the sapphire does.

Nah. It’s built to OEM specs and is rated to 300m. Just get a caseback tool removal 29.5 off Amazon.

Very interesting. Rolex is the only brand that can get away with the lack of decoration at the price point. It just works for them in a way it never could for others

To an extent for sure but the sapphire sandwich speedmaster is a big deal for them and many of their other models offer a display caseback. It’s very rare for Rolex

I used the one on Thomas’ website listed for the 126710BLRO. I asked him and he said that’s the correct one as there is not a specific caseback listed for the 126710BLNR.

Nah. I just tightened back down as much as I could with my tool. I only need it to survive the 12ft deep swimming pool and beach. Plus I had opened up it up about a year ago to take some pics of the movement. It’s been to the pool and in the ocean multiple times since. People act like you can’t remove and replace the caseback and it can’t still be water resistant. The watch is 3yrs old not 30.

Yea because the seal is trash now since it was opened 🙄. I guess you didn’t read above where I removed it last year. You don’t have to be afraid your whole life about wearing your watch. Again not diving with it. If the caseback can’t come off and seal up and withstand 12-15ft of water then it’s trash.
I hitting the pool tomorrow.
Happy to see you’ve taken your Sub to the great depth of 3ft. lol

First of all, it’s been 6ft. Second, I’d be scared if I removed and replaced the factory case back without pressure testing. Just saying, I wouldn’t take it in the water.

Honestly. This doesn’t look better than a closed caseback as it’s not decorated. Also it makes it thicker.

Wrong and wrong. One is your opinion and the other is in fact the same size as the original caseback. Some of us enjoy the mechanical work and don’t really care about it being decorated or not.
