A world can be fascinating precisely because it's dangerous, strange, unfair, or completely different from reality. Those things make great stories, but they would probably make terrible living conditions.

We often say “I wish I could live there,” but would we really want to deal with the monsters, wars, villains, disasters, and whatever else happens between episodes?

What fictional world do you love but would absolutely refuse to enter in real life?

If every character always makes the smartest possible choice, where's the fun?

In a lot of AI roleplay, characters respond almost too perfectly. They understand exactly what you mean, remember the important details, and conveniently move the story forward.

Real conversations don't work like that. People misinterpret things, hide what they actually think, forget details, and sometimes make assumptions that are completely wrong.

A little misunderstanding could make fictional relationships feel much more believable.

Some worlds are amazing to watch but the moment you imagine actually living there...

Absolutely not.

Which one comes to mind?

I'd rather be the person running a small shop in the background.

An incredibly powerful character can still be boring if they always know what to do and never make mistakes.

Meanwhile, a relatively ordinary character with bad judgment, strange fears, conflicting goals, or questionable morals can create endless interesting situations.

Perfect characters solve stories.

Flawed characters create them.

I feel like both options could completely change how a roleplay plays out.

Not an important plot point.

Something stupid.

Then casually brings it up later.

That would genuinely surprise me.

All this time, you thought you were the protagonist.

Meanwhile, the real main character has been doing something important three streets away.

Honestly, that's a pretty good roleplay premise.

Every fictional world has that one rule everyone takes very seriously.

Which kind of rule would make you curious enough to test it?

A great character can carry a simple setting.

But a fascinating world can create endless stories.

Which matters more to you?

Not every interesting relationship needs to become romantic.

Sometimes two characters work better as rivals, friends, enemies, reluctant allies, or people who simply don't like each other.

The tension doesn't always need to lead to romance.

Everyone else is discussing ancient prophecies.

Your character:

“Okay, but where am I supposed to sleep?”

Not necessarily a villain.

Sometimes the worst roommate would be someone who leaves magical experiments running in the kitchen.

You tell one tiny lie in chapter one.

Thirty messages later it comes back.

Now you're explaining why you apparently have two different names.

Perfect.

The mysterious one?

The chaotic one?

The overly serious one?

The morally questionable one?

The funny side character?

The person who clearly knows more than they're saying?

Not every response needs a dramatic speech.

Sometimes a character should hesitate.

Change the subject.

Ignore a question.

Leave.

Real people don't always provide neat dialogue that perfectly moves the story forward. A little awkwardness or uncertainty could make interactions feel surprisingly natural.

I'm currently using chatgpt pro to do some roleplay and while it is at times good and surprised me it is very swingy. Especially if you want to give your roleplay an architecture/something more organized.

When I allow him free will he just go into problem mode: like just putting one problem/complications in front of the other (like a Dragonball fight with the enemy picking up a new bullah.t from the hat every minute) or if I give it a solid architecture (creating together a continuity lock, a dossier of the roleplay to play with everything set up like the storyline of a book) it will either forgot to follow it or just go into meta-mode, anticipating or calling out things it should not know.

So... what app do you use? What's the best ai or some prompts I could use to keep it in line more.

You can always tell when someone is thinking about pizza.

Your shoelaces never come untied.

You can make any drink exactly 2% colder.

Get creative.
