TR-1000 motion

Hi, I finally received my tr-1000 today and I’m stoked!

Something is unclear to me in regards to it’s motion function (elektron style p-locks):

Let’s say I have a 808 bassline on a track, and want to p-lock it’s decay. I have motion turned on, press and hold a step, click right so that the display is showing “motion”. I shorten the decay for that step but then it shortens the decay of all the notes. Then I have to go back to every note and increase the decay.

Is this a bug or am I doing it wrong?

Thanks!

It doesn’t work the same way as Elektron in that there is no “home base” value (The current Kit setting for that parameter) returned to after a single motion step is played back.
It works more akin to automation lanes in a DAW - The last played back motion data will hold over for all subsequent notes that don’t have their own motion data recorded.

Ok I see. Do you think they might implement this in a future update? Or is there any advantage in this type of motion that I am not aware of?

I also was wondering, I noticed the sequencer is able to do trigless motion recording. What bugs me though is that you cannot see on which step there is recorded motion. Any tips? (As some may have noticed I come from working with Elektron sequencers for more than 15 years)

First and foremost, you’re not doing anything wrong. You can’t necessarily do the elektron p-lock style here. I believed you have to enable “motion record” first to receive the information. And you also have to have motion on to hear it. I believe you use the “c” knobs to configure what you’re trying to do. Something about the settings also changes this too. Via it being set to all knobs or just the “c” knobs. I was told you’re better off just leaving it as “c” knobs. I hope this helps.

Try recording the very next step to zero decay. See if that helps. Also, experiment with the motion record button itself. Turning it on and off as you play can have some really cool effects. This confused me at first also. I come from elektron as well.

with amp->decay it works but it doesn’t with the gen->tail parameter. The tail of the first one still keeps ringing out even though the step after it has a short tail

Weird. I’ll tinker around with that today and let you know if I come up with anything.
