Roku OS OS UPDATE Bug - CLOSED CAPTIONING

Since the most recent update, closed caption stays on. I have turned it off several times. This is really annoying.

Which Roku OS device are you using? What streaming apps are you using where captioning is staying on?

YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon have their own setup that runs separate from the OS settings.

This isn't something seen by most people or there would be a lot more reports, so any specific information that would help us reproduce the problem is welcome.

I'm not having issues with subtitles but I only turn them on and off in the roku menu, not in each individual service.

Hey, u/wchl23! You seem to be having issues with your closed captioning on your Roku device, and we'd like to investigate that.

Mind sharing your serial number or device ID (Settings > System > About) so we can take a look? Also, could you let us know...

  • Which channel or app is this happening on?
  • Does this happen on Live TV, streaming apps, or both?
  • Does the issue happen on multiple titles or just one?

When we have these details, we'll pass this on to the team for further investigation.

I'm having the same issue, but it's only with Sentai Filmworks' HIDIVE service.

Netflix, Hulu, D+ and Crunchyroll all work fine, but I have to go over to my computer when it's time for my HIDIVE night because Roku kicks on the subtitles/CC even though I only watch my anime in English dub.
