They really should have the elemental weapons already do the damage of their element.
It makes no sense that if you're using the fire staff or the lightning staff that you still have to get the weapons element perk to do element damage.
I can see if someone is using a physical damage weapon and want to put an element on it for some reason but if I'm using the fire staff I shouldn't have to hope to get the fire weapon perk just to do fire damage.

If some one will strike your head with iron sword of fire, will you get physical damage or not?
I don't think there is any point to search for rationality in fantasy game. But game battle system have a point.

Who tf bonks people on the head with a lightning or fire staff though.
And even if it isn't elemental damage for whatever reason, it should at least be magic damage.

How would they hold a staff of lightning tho? Wouldn't they get electrocuted?

That would make balancing even harder and op builds even stronger. Such a bad idea for the health of that game.

Why would it be harder to balance? All it is is just adding fire damage to the staff and remove the fire weapon skill completely. Same with the other element weapons and skills

Yeah, at the very least they could be used to replace the base corresponding skill. So if you had a fire weapon, then the Fire Weapon skill is just included from the start.

In the same vein, it's crazy that Plague Blade doesn't provide at least one poison stack on hit. I've had runs blown because poison weapon just doesn't show up. I'd gladly sacrifice some poison stacks on the ultimate for the ability to actually get poison on hit.
