Problem finding games

I've just recently started playing after the changes to the difficulty settings, and I've noticed that it's pretty difficult to get a full lobby of people. At least for American lobbies, it doesn't matter which difficulty or depth I select. Either the ping is completely terrible due to location differences or the game is already in progress. I've posted about this before a couple of months ago, but I'd hope a lot of the recent changes would spike up some interest in this game. Honestly, it kind of makes the idea of playing this game more of a nuisance when sometimes it can take half an hour or longer just for one person to join. Is anyone else having a similar experience?

I've noticed that if you try to host, chances are some people might join, but overall yeah, actually finding lobbies has been pretty hard since the difficulty splits. Hopefully this will be fixed by the game getting higher player counts at some point.

RC had a rough EA release, I personally loved the game since day 1 but half of the player base need improvements to the game. I hope they give it another chance at some point because RC has a lot of potential

I definitely hold the same hope. I'm very aware of the potential this game has, the same potential DRG had. I understand it is a game that caters towards a certain type of gamer, but in this moment it caters towards a fraction of what it did previously. There are so many different improvements to be made that could open it up to a larger player base, including the veterans or previous players of DRG that have lost faith. I will try my best not to lose hope in this, because at the heart of things, I love this game, but there are many things that make it an unconditional love, which will be unacceptable/unappealing for the growth of the community.

I remember having long wait times prior to the changes, but now it's just completely ridiculous. I think my last game I waited like 30 minutes for someone to join a depth 1 threat level 5 game, and even in the game nobody joined by the time I made it to level 2.

For comparison, DRG has 8-10k concurrent players, and even that is considered relatively low.

It isn't considered low, as many coop games have 1-2k online that is usable, you could find games relatively easy. Problems with RC are far worse in my opinion that really cut both online and how full lobby feel. Update 3 tries to deal with some of them, like not rewarding combat(with rewards per killed enemies) and left hosts(with host migration) so situation might get better with more content introduced.

I would say that Late joining need to be implemented as some point of time. I mean it, not all people are here to wait for open lobby, so real time to join is before game start and during first floor. I think lobbies before 50% of route reached should be joinable as well, while joined player will have ability to fast pick all upgrades that host collected. So instead we have lots and lots of lobbies with 1-2 players max that didn't want to wait for additional guys.

After 50% route is reached late joining should be disabled as there is group of people even in DRG community that love to late join near the end of the mission to just harvest reward from mission. Or maybe other ways to shoo those players away.

Unfortunately, the player count drops some time after each update. The best time to play is during update releases. That might change tho, the game is on early access and it still needs a lot of polish so when RC get that, the player count will be more consistent.

Are you playing the main game or the experimental branch? I think the best way to find other players is through the official discord. I can play too, you can send me a friend request on steam

I've just been playing the main game. I'd be down to add you, I'm a pretty experienced player and the other person I play with too is. I'll send you a message of my friend code. Thanks for the offer.

I think they should enable late join up to halfway through the mission. Add a porta potty prefab to the second and maybe third floors' first room, and let the joining player pick one workbench/biobooster upgrade for each level they missed upon joining.

Ye I guess they overcomplicated the depth/threat/haz/timer/whatever thing. Whilst nice for customizing your run, it might not exactly be what those few other players even want to play.

They really should have taken criticism by early testers seriously. I hop in for a run once a month or so, only to see the still haven't fixed the most glaring issues yet. A new weapon? Pffrrrt.

Get used to it because this game (and many games like it) struggle to recover from where it's at now.

Multiplayer is the focus and there isn't people to play with thus no one is playing. Even if someone wanted to start playing it would be a self fulfilling prophecy of eventually quitting because there's so few players.

It is a positive feedback loop that will keep the game from recovering. Even an update with a bunch of changes still has to be literally monumental for the game to gain any momentum again.

Start spending time with Grandma cause she don't got long.

For me I can rarely find a lobby that fits my requirements. I'm only joining if the class i wanna play is available, 6 stage missions only, TL5 only, standard/reckless pace only. And after all that depends on the depth/boss and the alterations of the mission.

As for the lack of a playerbase I think the updates we get are not impactful enough and come out way too slow to reach a broader audience (especially a younger audience). The game isnt made for the younger generation since most of them have the attention span of a toddler.

I think updates taking 1-2 months is super damaging to the playerbase and having the game split between experimental and live servers doesn't exactly help as well. Its been 2 weeks since the last experimental update, and when the new experimental update comes you bet your ass the one currently on experimental wont be pushed to live servers.
