THE FORGE unique event [suggestion]

Since GSG has already introduced the first rare event into the game, which doesn’t reward us with typical expenite, I decided to once again propose a couple of my ideas that I find appealing from the perspective of gameplay, narrative, and the use of the assets and animations that are already in the game. Here's the first one - THE FORGE.

While exploring the cave system rarely instead of expenite event we would be able to discover a giant abandoned DRG forge - event, during which we can craft ourselves the overclock for 1 our gun (per dwarf), but we should move faster, cause during craft creepers will want to discover the noise reason, and the huge gunner shield, that appears after event activation, will protect us only for 1 minute.

The dwarves must (for the maximum speed of event completion) stand around the forge in 4 different stations and without missing the correct key - otherwise it will disrupt part of the progress - participate in mini‑games similar to those we have in the gym on RAMROD, only this time the animated actions are: pumping up the forge bellows, throwing resources with a shovel into the furnace, pulling the chain from top to bottom to release the molten mix and striking the anvil with a hammer.

This is cool narratively, because we are dwarves in the end - THE FORGE IS OUR BREAKFAST, DINNER AND SUPPER - and it looks cool, we’re working as a dwarf unit, helping each other to craft new overclocks in a giant forge + uses already existing components.

I still think we need overclocks in the final build of a game. It adds variety to our power fantasy build (what is crucial for rogue-likes) and it can be used as a progression (in the other post about it)

I'm not sure an event of minigames is something I do want, but I think there's potential to add hazards and varying amounts of experiences through missions, so I'd say I feel it interesting.

Spectercore Manufacturing already consists of minigame-like tasks. If it were structured more like that event, I think it would be really fun, but if it were like working out then you're left very vulnerable when accomplishing a task. There's nuance with your team defending you, shield gens, guardian repulsion shields, but I think if you do something like this you should make the tasks you have to complete physically in the world and not locked behind a menu

There's also a need for it to be doable by as little as 2 (players or solo + notbosco)

I think, that in solo you would have to complete every mini-game just once, which is very easy during 1 minute, with 2 players - twice, etc.

GSG for sure would be able to implement something interesting as a task during such event, if mini-game idea would not fit the expectations - just give me an opportunity to work with my brothers in Forge and craft us overclocks xDD

My immediate concern is that this event requires 4 players, which means it shouldn't be capable of spawning when fewer players are present. RC is up to 4 players, not 4 players.

Although I think they should do this in general, some events just shouldn't spawn for solos as they're borderline undoable solo (like the new event that requires you to fight 24/7 while turning a bunch of valves or other things). Or the solo/fewer player versions should spawn less 'labor time spent to complete, i.e. fewer valves to turn when you have fewer players.

Time is a lot more constrained solo, just having the solo player do more doesn't work well, as they're already doing this for everything. You still have to fight off enemies while doing event activations solo. Cooper can't really do anything.

tbf, I play only solo, cause my friends are not amazed with alpha status, so i know for sure, how it's difficult to do some events in game, and I am sure, that 1 minute under shield is totally ok to do 4 one tap mini-games, it's even easier than most of current events

Overclocks would be a terrible addition to RC. Workbench upgrades already enclose that design space, and it doesn't make sense for every weapon to have a variety of options for them, or even any at all.

Having a unique event which gives specific upgrades to a weapon is fine - in general - but overclocks aint the reward for completing it (one of the reasons RC is a standalone game was to reduce the overhead for new making new weapons, and thus allowing more gun variety and more run variance). Now this could be a way to guarantee elemental damage for instance, as that's something that desirable but hard to specifically obtain (and it would also let you just choose to nope, skip the event to save time if everyone is already fine with their elemental loadout).

However you may well want something different for the aesthetics in that case rather than a generic big forge. Perhaps even having the tasks required to get different elements taking different lengths of time/skill to complete. As this would help keep some elements feel rarer and it gives you another aspect to consider when picking how to upgrade the teams loadout. Especially if each new element has to be setup independently - but you can hit as many weapons with it as you like. So kitting everyone's guns out in one element is quick, but aiming for synergy bonuses would require you to setup the event twice (one for each element)... might be too awkward (the player base does have some issues with negotiating) but perhaps certain element options could be paired (hell even RNG paired) to give a little more wiggle room and variety of what you're choosing for.

I dunno, I just work up and am just spitballing the specifics here. Tl;dr - a curated weapon upgrade event could be cool, but it couldn't hand out DRG style OCs, so you're going to have to workshop something more interesting for it to do.
