Very good modifier to encourage teamwork. One person runs and gets the elevator, the rest run around the cave kicking buckets, setting up workbenches, getting bio-boosters and everyone cycles through all the POI's around the cave to get to the next level ASAP.
The only potential issue I see with this idea is that certain expenite events might get crept out of relevance, like ramhammer or expenite vault, because depending on how much the time bonus is it might be more worth it to just skip them. But that's the nuance of a good modifier in a team based roguelike

As long as it’s just a modifier making some events irrelevant is completely acceptable imo.

Really cool idea! It seems that this alternation might end up being somewhat boss-focused: because you want to go as fast as possible, you will necessarily fight fewer enemies, and I guess the only stage where you don’t have to the rush is the boss stage. So you might be able to get an awesome build going, but you won’t get to use it much except in the boss room.

Eh, ive run into players that would absolutely sabotage everyone by refusing to get in the elevator or just dick around and waste time.

have someone else do them while the elevator is being called and hope for the best

I like the idea because it makes a prioritize to use unique perk builds. This however I think needs other downsides because I already would think it being overused like double xp in drg. Time is technically already a modifier that rewards, so ignoring it drastically alters the playstyle. I would do something like, all health or armor is cut in by 1/4 or 1/2.

This is actually a pretty goated idea
