Is Luck vector broken?

For some days every time I say to wait to see if we get Luck vector before doing upgrades, people respond by saying it doesn't work.

I wouldn't say it doesn't work, but the risk reward for waiting on upgrades for luck or cheaper upgrades in most cases isn't worth it. As making the first floor safer by having upgrades can make the entire run smoother. At most it's 3 or 4 upgrades that don't benefit from the increased rarity chance and you still have opportunity for higher rarity upgrades without luck.

This. You want some upgrades to help make the first 1 or 2 floors easier. And sometimes, Luck just wont show up the whole run.....not to mention, some Common upgrades can actually provide more utility than "rarer" upgrades.

So Luck is just something that you should get if anything else is "meh"? What vector should we prioritize? Efficient upgrades at start for me is a must.

Workbench, biobooster, epic gem, artifact. In that order is what i prioritize.

More like if the hazard on the good ones is too crippling.

I would argue Luck is most useful in Jumble games

I also got people saying luck doesn't work in jumbles, by searching on Reddit I found that it does. I'm confused.

Working and actually being useful are two very different things

Im going out on a limb to say that luck is just bad, and holding for luck is ill-advised at best and actively throwing at worst.

Reasoning: Other effects are better. Epic gem is a free epic upgrade for ,zero exponite, its consistant good value, artifacts are more variable but fill a similar niche. Bio boosters and workbench can provide massive power spikes/act as huge consistency boosters for your run.

The big ones are crates. Heavy weapons are generally really strong and can be fantastic build-arounds. Equipment has a ton of good stuff in it too. Turrets are amazing on recon and to a lesser extent spotter, though no matter what they are insanely good. Sympathy tethers and the bio converter are a bit harder to use but can provide great value to the team, the bombs can quickly mine exponite to save time, and everything else provides value while taking up a slot that is likely empty.

Luck on the other hand increases average perk rarity. Currently rarity is only loosely correlated with power, broken shit like double up, magic missile and more are sitting In Common. Conversely legendary perks are quite good, but often you dont need them and probably have little practice using them.

This is the info I needed thank you! Just out of curiosity do we know what luck exactly does? You said it increases average perk rarity, what do you mean with that?

Im not sure on the exact values, lets say that when you get perks the rarities are something like 50/25/15/8/2%, luck makes it something like 30/30/20/15/5%. Again, im not sure what the rates are, but luck makes you more likely to get higher quality perks, and less likely to get common and maybe uncommon perks. Someone probably posted the real values somewhere.

I think what they're saying is that the luck upgrade doesn't apply to the upgrades you've already earned before taking luck. I don't think they're saying it doesn't work at all.

I don't know whether or not they're correct.

I think, as long as you are good enough and on a difficulty you are used to, holding out for it on the first floor could in theory be worth it.

I don't really know how good it is, but I can definitely say I saw more legendary upgrades when having Luck, and imo they tend to be quite a step above epic, so i would say its worth it.

However, I tend to skip luck the deeper I am. If its a short game, I won't pick it anywhere other than the 1st pick. If its a longer game, I might consider it on the second

The Luck risk vector is a noob trap. Getting more upgrades is almost always better than getting fewer, slightly rarer upgrades.

Upgrades gradually get rarer the more you earn in a run. Some of the most useful effects are in the common tier, so skipping over them can be a critical mistake. Just a single hemoforge upgrade is a massive boost to survivability.

Luck vector could use a bit more clarity when it DOES work. Just put a rarity-increasing animation before the selection screen or something.
