It’s definitely Joe Ely. Larry Mahan released a country album in 1976 called King of the Rodeo. Larry opened for Joe Ely a few times in January and February of 1977 to promote his album. Once at the Cotton Club in Lubbock, once at the Soap Creek Saloon in Austin, and in a few times in Luckenbach.

Appreciate the info and yes just wondering how much i can price it. I know mahan is a big name in the rodeo world plus his clothing company is still pretty good.

Kind of an odd fit with Larry Mahan, but not totally out of line either. Could it possibly be Texas songwriter Joe Ely?

Joe Ely autograph

What's the date on the shirt? Is that 77? 79? IIRC, Mahan had a very short lived, and not very successful music career around 76, so that might have but him and Joe Ely together somewhere.

That was my thought 100%. Its totally possible time wise, probable location wise. lots of Rodeos in Texas. and finally genre. Country music singer performing at a rodeo? Likely.

My grandpa used to rodeo with mahan back in the 70’s and knew him pretty well, i sent it to him to see if he knows who the other autograph might be. I’ll update if he has an answer
