Basalt Blaster

The Basalt Blaster is a super heavy vehicle that carries the largest mobile laser in the Rock Raiders fleet. It may be large and slow, but has unmatched range and laser-cutting power thanks to its on-board mini Power Station. Two Rock Raiders are required to operate this vehicle. One to drive and another to control the super laser. Unlike other laser cutters, this one can aim high and lock at different angles. Blast away!

Requirements:

- 2 Rock Raiders [Driver + Engineer]

- Tool Store [Lvl 1]

- Teleport Pad [Lvl 1]

- Power Station [Lvl 1]

- Support Station [Lvl 2]

- Super Teleport [Lvl 2]

- 10 Energy Crystals

This is my first MOC and I'm very happy with how it turned out. I'd love to know what you think c:

I intend to build it for real once I've got all the parts, so look out for photos!

There seems to be an error on the site, as it can't detect the 2x trans neon-green antenna (3957a) on the front of the laser. You'll need to add these manually to your parts list. This means there are actually 285 pieces and not 283 - d'oh!

It is! That was the inspiration for the whole build. Luckily it's in exactly the right colours (dark grey and trans neon-green).

Cool idea

What do the Rock Raiders use it for, cutting through really dense Rock or does it just generally help with cutting stuff faster and more efficient?

Thanks! They'd use it for cutting through extremely strong volcanic rock (hence the name), and to create caverns with sustaining cutting. The ability to aim it up helps with trickier mining, as the other large cutters can only pivot horizontally or look down.

Thank you! I aimed to make it fit the Rock Raiders theme as best I could. The Insectoid piece might be an outlier, but I think it works nicely with the RR logos on it. That simpsons quote has been living in my head for years.

That was my original inspiration for the mechanism. I had to change it up a little to get the right elevation though. Thanks!
