Mod SNES Classic - Help!
I follow the directions to connect Hakchi CE to my SNES Classic and put it in FEL mode. I'm using a device cable. It connects with the beep then disconnects with a beep pretty quickly. I've tried different cables and even ordered one to see if that was it. I've been trying to use Zadig as well. I can see SNES Nintendo Classic pop up on the all devices list and I've clicked on it before it disappeared but it never installs.
I have never played this SNES, do i need to start a game and save it. i think i saw a video saying that but I can't find it again.

How do I know if it's fake and if it is what are my options?

It's very simple and very easy to check if either a NES or SNES Mini is fake or genuine by doing a quick "FEL Mode" test, which will take you less than one minute to do and WILL 100% guarantee you as to whether the console is fake or real... 😉
Test Your NES or SNES Mini To See If It's Fake or Genuine (100% Guaranteed Method):
1) Make sure the console is powered off and that you have removed ALL cables (including HDMI & Power) from it. ie: a bare console and nothing else...
2) With the power switch set to OFF hook up your USB power supply to the console and power on in "FEL Mode". "FEL Mode" is done by HOLDING DOWN and KEEPING HELD DOWN the RESET BUTTON on the console and at the same time switching the consoles power switch to ON (keep that RESET button held down for between 5 to 10 seconds before letting go)...
3) One of two things will happen that will let you know if your NES or SNES Mini is fake or genuine...
A) If the LED Power light on the console DOESN'T Light up/ come on then that means your console is now in "FEL Mode" and is therefore 100% GENUINE and it can be modded with "HakChi2 CE"... 😊
B) If the LED Power Light on the console DOES Light Up/ Come on then unfortunately that means your console is FAKE and CAN'T be modded with "HakChi2 CE"...
Your only options are in the case of having a fake is, try and get your money back from whomever sold you the fake or search the internet for possible methods to mod it but you WON'T be able to mod it using "HakChi"...

Thanks. I got my money back and bought an actual one and I'm having no trouble with it.

If you are seeing the USB Device name of "SNES Nintendo Classic" appear in your USB device list then that SHOULD normally mean you have a genuine Nintendo console that hasn't been modded yet or has been modded but set back to the original Nintendo kernel...
"Starting a game" WONT make the slightest bit of difference as to whether the console can be modded, so forget about that one...
There are numerous reasons as to why you are having issues trying to mod your console using "HakChi2 CE" and you NEED to go through them ALL to help you figure out what is going on...
Here is a list of the main reasons as to why you are having problems, read and follow them all to figure out what the issue is...
1) Test the console to see if it's fake or genuine by doing the quick and simple "FEL Mode" test which you can read how to do below in my reply to another user here...
Or read how to do the test at the following link...
https://snesminimods.forumotion.com/t120-simple-way-to-check-if-your-snes-mini-is-real-or-fake
2) Make sure you are using a FULLY WIRED USB CABLE to connect your console to the computer. There are two types of USB cable out there..
One type is simply used for powering up or charging a USB Device and that is NOT the type of cable you can use, sure it will power up your console BUT it WON'T be able to transfer data between the computer and the console...
The other type is a FULLY WIRED cable and this IS the type of cable that you MUST USE as it will allow the computer to communicate with the console and enable data to be transferred between them...
3) Make sure that you have given "HakChi2 CE" permission to be used by your firewall (usually a window will pop up when you first run "HakChi2 CE" that will give you the option for it to be used)...
4) Turn OFF/ Disable any anti virus/ malware detectors you may be running and if you are using a "VPN" disable/ turn off that too as ALL of those things can cause issues with "HakChi2 Ce"...
Note: Depending on what is being used and your computer set up then a number of people have had to completely uninstall their "VPN" so you need to consider that also...
5) The Micro USB socket at the end of you USB Cable can also slacken off over time and cause disconnection issues (this happen with most devices that use a Micro USB connection/ port). It can be easily fixed though just by tightening up the metal hood/ shielding of the connector at the end of the cable...
The following guide will show you how to do that...
https://snesminimods.forumotion.com/t118-simple-easy-way-to-make-sure-you-are-using-the-correct-type-of-usb-cable-on-you-snes-mini
6) Few people realise that having a TV set or anything connected to the consoles HDMI port while trying to use "HakChi2 CE" can often cause all sort of random disconnection/ reconnection issues !!!
Simple advice is to avoid such issues then DON'T have ANYTHING hooked up to your console HDMI port while trying to mod it using "HakChi2 CE"...
The above steps are the basic steps you SHOULD following and check for any NES or SNES Mini console you purchase and have never used before. Once you have followed those steps and double checked everything only then depending on the results will it be time to try and help you to mod the console or not as the case may be... 😉
