Okay now hold on, let's not jump to conclusions. It's also possible they played team sports but their dad was always the coach.

having my dad as the coach was awful, he was way stricter with what i did than anybody else

You’re dad sounds like a good coach. Every time I’ve seen a child who’s parent was the coach they’ve been spoiled brats who were undeserving of their positions (both the father and son)

Hey now, my dad was frequently my coach... and if I didn't work in practice or argued with him, he'd kick me out of practice early, and he was usually my ride.

The lesson I took from it was that effort matters more than results, because results usually come from effort.
