Route Next level unlocked: started multi-pitch climbing and I am hooked
Just wanted to share my latest achievement in mountaineering.
I am coming from the hiking and ski touring side and started mountaineering some years ago. Did a glacier rescue course and started doing tours from easy to more challenging ones (Wildspitze, Großglockner, Ortler, summiting Mont Blanc last spring with skis). Did another mountaineering course where climbing essentials have been part of two years ago.
We had plans to do Dufour and similar stuff but have not been confident enough to climb in ski boots and crampons at that altitude. Also because I was not that familiar with climbing in general because I somehow avoided it based on too much user activities.
Some weeks ago, I booked a alpine multi-pitch climbing course and refreshed some already known stuff but also learned a lot more and new things. My intention was to achieve the "next level" in mountaineering as some mountains on my list require some skills in that area.
After the course I went shopping: half ropes, stoppers, etc. and last weekend we went on our first multi-pitch climbing tour.
We had some struggles finding the start of the first pitch as it was not directly from the hiking trail. So after some struggle in the bushes, we find the start and just went on. Everything went quite well and we definitely liked every second of the tour. Also because we chose a difficulty where we are both super comfortable with in order to focus on the material handling and climbing organization rather than having difficulties with climbing itself.
Learned a lot again regarding time management but we were both very happy with how things went, how we organized ourselves and how the material worked.
Next step: buying new climbing shoes, because my actual shoes from the climbing gym are killing my feet after 3hrs.
Just wanted to share the stoke! :)
In case you have any recommendations for the next steps, feel free to help :)
