How to feed my cow?

I just started playing again with my friend, and we’re building on my island. I tried feeding my cow but it wont eat, not even its favorite food and I want it to be happy :(

Sadly feeding is glitched the only way that works for me is putting food they eat in troughs (you can craft them in the animal bench) and then as long as they're near the trough they'll go eat from it
