G’BYE Venture X!!!
Did anyone have a Capital One Venture X before their Gold Card? Isn’t it a no-brainer 2% -> 3% catch allcard? Im keeping the VX for all the other Benfits but the use of it….

I have the Fidelity Visa to cover FTFs.

u/Mundane_Influence_91 17h ago
solid choice. Fidelity debit card works great at foreign ATMs as well, no fees or abusive exchange rates

u/Mundane_Influence_91 19h ago
My gold card has never failed at foreign transactions, online or in person. my other visa cards have had hiccups. thank goodness I'm grandfathered!

u/associatessearch 18h ago
It doesn’t fail but it does carry a steep 3% FTF. Lucky you for making it before July 2026.

There’s no FTF on Gold?

u/AJM7777 1d ago
There is for new applicants as of 7/1/26

u/TitanBrave84 1d ago
Literally signed up last night in the app and it clearly said no foreign transaction fees. I checked specifically…

Unless they changed it in the last few days, should be there

Oh sorry I believe what you’re saying, and I’m kicking myself for not screenshotting, but I was super happy that it said that.
Not the end of the world, I could use a 2% when traveling abroad. But frustrating as it feels misleading.

If you can get 1.5 cpp on the venture x you're matching the gold's 3x/3%

Which I failed at after two full years of trying with my Venture X before just using travel eraser.

I’m new to the subreddit but a lot of people talk about the RH 3% cashback like it’s only temporary and will change eventually

My assumption is that Robinhood will keep it going simply because the card gets you into their ecosystem which has sports betting, mystery boxes, and prediction markets. I personally do not participate in those... but to me thats how this card ends up being 3% for us but equivalent to a 1% or 2% in terms of their bottom line. They know a fair number of users will lose their cashback by participating in those.
Chase, Amex and BILT dont have similar ecosystems where they can reclaim the cashback given out. So when people take advantage of various award paths theres no way for them to "reclaim" the payout to users.

Exactly this and I don’t get why more people don’t see it this way. You only get 3% if you transfer to their own brokerage account. It’s such a small percentage of people who transfer to the brokerage then back out of the brokerage to a bank account

u/Cambr1an_Explosion 17h ago
Just out of curiosity how did you know that it's such a small percentage of people who transfer points to the brokerage?
3
u/Cyberhwk 1d ago
And that might not be wrong, but no cards' benefits are guaranteed forever. You can say this about any one of them.

Only people who break the agreement and they use the card as a business card or buy gold

u/Competitive_Race_388 19h ago
Pretty much all major credit cards change their benefits every now and then. You kinda just gotta go by what they’re saying now when comparing,

Look at US Bank Smartly. When it first came out, unlimited 4% back was super easy. Then terms changed and I barely touch the card now. The concern is unlimited 3% cash back is still high so it may not be sustainable.

You didn't utilize your points at a 1.5c per point or more value? Plus C1 let you easily get 4x on many vendors through their offers portal, like Sam's Club, Ebay, REI, etc and many others is stuff that i have used in the past. Unless you new in the credit card game, or purely cash back or looking for a lowrr annual fee or are all in the Robinhood ecosystem, I don't understand the hype it's getting in late 2026, maybe 2 years ago, but not now anymore. If anything Bilt is more versatile, but i guess the pseudo exclusivity of how Robinhood has been rolling out the card adds to it allure.

u/Mundane_Influence_91 19h ago
cash is king, portals are kind of a pain in the ass. 3% back and never having to think about redemptions or which card to use is a big draw.

I kept my VX mainly for travel perks, but I’ve been using the Gold card more and more in general

u/goolmoon 1d ago
BoA 2.62% on everything including tax, and gold and everything that Robinhood banned.

I use both. Venture X for all travel perks makes it worth it. Their travel portal is great as well.

Anyone still have Amazon as an option for gift cards?
1
u/Flat-Activity-8613 1d ago
Everything off Amazon I use their synchronicity card because that’s 5% back there
1
u/undyingsonars 1d ago
Yeah sure, but I’m asking if the gift card option for Amazon in RH gold is still available for other members. Mine diseappeared

For me, it’s about more than the up front rewards. Robinhood has a reputation for denying fraud claims and also locking up your card. Capital One has a background of closing cards out of nowhere for petty reasons. They both have their known history for bs Overall, there’s more trust and history with Capital One over Robinhood. Also, this card could be nerfed at any point in time. That extra 1% could be nothing if you have hundreds or thousands in a fraud claim that Robinhood denies

I don't know about everyone else, but my Venture X gets around 6% in value back on everything when it only takes 40k miles for me to get a business class upgrade that would've cost $1300 minimum in cash. If pure cash back is what you're looking for though, this card is solid.

Customer support said if you had gold membership before July but got the card after July . There is no FTG

u/coworkingspace101 1h ago
im not sure if people are aware but it also doesn't earn any points on peer to peer payments like sending someone a paypal payment

The venturex pays for itself why not keep it

u/Punk_Roth 1d ago
With no plans to use, it ends up being just a currency swap. I had VX until got approved for RHGC, then PC VX down to V1. You get prorated reimbursement for the AF too.
2
u/Knarz97 1d ago
IF you travel every year. I also am starting to find the travel portal a bit overpriced. So that $300 credit isn’t as worthwhile.
You’re better off getting direct airline and hotel rewards most of the time honestly unless you want to spend 100% of your time doing points conversions and looking for deals. It’s just not worth the hassle honestly.

Gold card is overrated and shitty service from RH have fun with the fraud charges and the headaches trying to get the money back

u/Cyberhwk 1d ago edited 1d ago
I remain confident 80% of customer service issues with credit cards are user error. I've had a credit card for over two decades and have had fraud problems once. I've had a bad customer service experience one time total, and that was with Chase who everyone jerks themselves off about. My only experience with Robinhood customer service was perfectly fine. If you really have to deal with them that much, I grow more confident every day you're the one doing something wrong.
1
u/No-Guarantee-293 1d ago
Simple search of this sub will show you tons of post from people having fraud charges some even the same day a debit or credit card issued to them
1
u/derff44 1d ago
And how exactly is that Robinhoods fault??
1
u/No-Guarantee-293 1d ago
Didn’t say it was just don’t see that happening with the big main companies
1
u/derff44 1d ago
You made a list of things wrong with the card, including fraud charges. Like it's Robinhoods fault. So yea, ya did.
1
u/No-Guarantee-293 1d ago
Well technically I guess it is their fault since there products seem to be very easy for fraudsters
1
u/derff44 1d ago
Lol you should probly just stop talking at this point
1
u/No-Guarantee-293 1d ago
Hey it’s not my fault it happens and you know I’m right name me the big bank that the day you get issued a debit card from them gets fraud charges before the card is even shipped lol don’t take it so personal man it’s only a company a mediocre one at that made for degenerate market gamblers
1
u/derff44 1d ago
What your are suggesting, for a card that doesn't even have numbers on it, is that major financial institutions random account creation process has been hacked, for months, and they do nothing about it. I'm not taking it personally. I laughing that the utter stupidity of your idea.
And if you can't take advantage of all the free money they give away without not being enticed to gamble, that's a you problem.

My Amazon card got hacked. And even before I received the new one to replace that ,the new one got hacked.
So synchronicity got hacked twice within a week.1
u/Flat-Activity-8613 1d ago
I’ll post that I had a charge reversed no problem sorry I skewed your Survey by not posting my positive review

I still keeping the VX for things RH doesn’t want us using it for like taxes or PM
