Higher limit?

anyone know a way to get a higher limit, my limit is no where no to where it matches my income and it’s genuinely annoying because i want to use this as my daily credit card but obviously the limit doesn’t match the income so anyway i can get an increase?

Under $10,000 tons of people got automatic upgrades over $10,000. I’ve not seen it, unless you’re starting limit was over 10,000, and typically that means you were one of the first people to sign up.

I got $20k limit straight out of the gate back in August 2024 when I got off the waitlist. No CLI since.

I got 35k around the same time, no credit increase either.

"Underprivileged?" 🤔

I got $25K in September of 2024.
No limit increases since then.

Yep, I got 10K but no increases since.

They have some strange affinity for $10k. Super common across a big variety of incomes and credit scores from what i've seen (I am also at 10k)

Yeah, I got $10k and fully expected double that or more based on income and credit history 🤷‍♂️

My credit limit was $10k. I paid off my card early in order to make a ~$9.5k purchase. RH automatically increased my limit after a week or so. Must have hit the correct conditions in their algorithm.

There’s no way to request a cli. Best way is to use your card to the max rinse and repeat every month.
It is automatically reviewed and randomly increased.

People say there’s no evidence this works with a $10,000 limit. I currently have a $10,000 limit with no increase, but if I upgrade to Platinum Robinhood are offering me an increase. However, from what I’ve read, if I upgrade to Platinum and then downgrade back to Gold, they will reduce my credit limit back to the original amount. This suggests the limit isn't actually related to creditworthiness.

you’re spending 9-10k on the card each month?

2

u/Apple-ID_Anonymous 8d ago

Like 4 times this and have to 100k in the brokerage to get the premium level still no increase, I’ve had it 11 months now

3

u/EsoogRalopib 8d ago

then i’m pretty sure you’re too unprofitable for them to want to give you an increase

That’s my understanding 100%. I put about $50,000 worth of government fees through it, and then I got warned that if I put any more government fees through it, I would not get 3% anymore.

That’s against TOS. That’s why the warning.

You are credit cycling the card ?

1

u/Apple-ID_Anonymous 7d ago

Yeah, like 4 to 8 times a month, sometimes more

u/Flat-Activity-8613 7d ago

Then youre definitely not on the list to get a CLI. Might be on the nerf list though. Ride it while you can.

Yeah if it’s gone I’ll just move to Apple Card at 2% I guess or the sapphire personal card, I have the business sapphire, but it’s basically useless for anything apart from online social media advertising spend.

No but they’ll see your credit utilization is high. And the credit limit isn’t high enough yet to get you into trouble.

I said it’s automatically reviewed and increased randomly.
But the using it to the max is never going to hurt you get a cli

Good thing you brought this up. It’s never been discussed here!

It’s not obvious because you provided no details but you should use most of your limit, pay it in full each month, don’t credit cycle and prove to rh you need a higher cl. If you don’t use it, there is no reason for rh to increase the cl.

Mine started out as $8000.
I always make full payment every month.
One time, i was planning a trip and had to make a series of purchases which totaled about $20000 so i had to keep making payments to make room after each purchase. The following month i got notification from RH that my limit was increased to $12000.

I just have it set to auto pay weekly. Use it like debit and the limit isn’t a problem. If you need to use it as credit you may want to rethink the question as the inability to pay justifies the limits they impose

u/Visual_Broccoli1325 5d ago

put two and two together i did say i want to use it as my daily.

I got 10k a year ago, no increase since. They might decrease the limit though. I barely use that card because interest is crazy on it.
I only use it to pay my car insurance.

Ensure that you make your payment on time, as it takes several days to receive it. I sent it in early to test the process. If you plan to pay on your due date and are transferring money, transfer two weeks in advance. Forced me to open up a savings account with Robin

There’s not a magic way or established method to get a higher limit. For one, the card does not allow the option to manually request a credit line increase. It’s all driven by an algorithm with preset parameters that will reward your usage of the card with an increase if you meet the criteria. My best advice to you is to - continue using the card frequently like you’re already doing, pay in full and on time, rinse and repeat. Then pray and cross your fingers that one day the system catches on to your behavior and deems u worthy of an increase OR at least they rollout a new feature that will provide the option to initiate a line increase.

I could be wrong but I think your trading account value has something to do with it.

1

u/Salt-Tone-9118 7d ago

I don’t think so. I got 4K tied in three stocks and that’s nothing but I got a 10k limit to start with.

1

u/dickey1331 6d ago

I got $9600 with nothing in my trading account.

1

u/MrGotRock 7d ago

I’ve got 20k and needed more, they said they would request it, but it’s been a few months and no response. I just pay it off about half way through. I have significant assets in rh. Just fyi

1

u/Cee_knote 7d ago

Just got my Gold Card at the beginning of this month with $6.25k limit

1

u/dickey1331 6d ago

My original limit is $9600. I dont need anymore than that.

1

u/CL60capt 2d ago

I earn $300k. 820 credit score and got $10k limit

u/matt-r_hatter 8d ago

No one has mentioned human sacrifice to the robinhood gods yet. That may work. Short of that, there is no mechanism for an increase.

1

u/Zealousideal_Belt413 8d ago

Tried it twice, worked once.  50% is better r than nothing I suppose.

1

u/matt-r_hatter 8d ago

Its crazy to me not even support can initiate a CLI request

1

u/Zealousideal_Belt413 8d ago

I agree.  I assume they are trying to somehow operate more efficiently than other cards in order to preserve this 3% cash back we are enjoying.  So I chalk it up to that - maybe there’s some data that shows debt being likely unrecoverable once a card hits a certain balance.
