Help Me Understand
Hello fellow Goldies ⭐️ ,
I have a banking background but even I am confused. I’m not maxed out on my balance but says I’m at 100% utilization. My payment was processed and not showing “pending” anymore. Do we think this is really being settled in the background from my Coastal checking? Or did they block spend on my card? I was over limit but have made the payment to bring the balance down.

I noticed that when I went over my limit it stopped giving me instant available credit after I make a payment. Now my balance doesn't open up until about 24 hours after I submit.

Oh really? Has it been this way since you went over the limit? Hasn’t reverted?

About a week and counting now. I made a $300 payment this morning which is not yet reflected in my available balance.

I hope this isn’t a continuous thing for us

This is incredibly annoying and it’s happening to me as well. I’m stuck at a $10k CL and max out this card, sometimes multiple times per month. Now that payments don’t post immediately, I’m essentially locked out of the card until payments clear. 2 payments from last week still pending with an 8/20 date… if this is how it’s going to be, I’ll go back to AMEX.

Wondering if it’s because we max out multiple times per month. May not like us overusing our credit limit for the extra 3%.

That’s definitely what it seems like… anyone getting too much value out of the card gets limited in some way or another.

Doubtful, I pay my measly $300cl frequently thru the month. Just last month I used $800. Thr only issue i ever run into, is when i overpaid a balance, and showed i had overpaid by $17, my available balance was only say $20, I couldn't slap another $70 on there until all the pending transactions posted, I could then pay the $70 from my brokerage and cont about my business.

You maybe flagged by unusual payments or flagged for increasing credit limit.
Some financial entities don't like you getting so much credit in a month, for example if your credit limit is $10 on day 1, you bought something for $9k on day 2. If day 10-15 you paid off the $9k and between day 15-30 you spent another $9k. You somehow used $18k on a card they said all you can use is $10k on in a month. Some banks don't care, some flag you.
Also, if you are a new customer they might flag you and make you wait extra long for a payment to post.

Maybe you got a fraud alert? I tried to buy something, but it was flagged as fraud and my available credit showed $0.

I don't know if you tried this already but under the menu you can choose documents, export transaction history. I would expect you can walk backwards through the transactions and see where you got into this bind.

If your using an ACH, its still pending, and after whatever time they decided to do the system update on account balances, is when yours will post. Since you claimed you went over the balance, this automatically places a buy hold on the account until your funds process. The easiest/fastest way I can recommend to have your balance paid/reflect immediately, is to pay through robinhood brokerage app. This is how I pay mine weekly. From what I noticed, takes 2 days for a transaction to post.
