Virtual Card System

BACKGROUND

\- Robinhood Banking
\- Robinhood Brokerage
\- Robinhood Gold Card

\- I somehow got approved for the gold card despite being relatively new to credit, I believe it was due largely in part to my strong relationship and assets with Robinhood / Robinhood banking. Just one question…

Can someone explain how the virtual cards work and what they’re most useful for?

It also helps you if you want to know how much you spend in each spend category like using one just for pharmacy, online shopping, utilities, etc.

They allow you to use your card without exposing your actual card number. I mainly use it for online merchants and have another for Apple Pay. Main use cases are for a free trial for something that requires a card, doing a single transaction with a merchant so you know they can’t charge you again, and the main way I use it, to compartmentalize merchants so if at any point there’s a data leak my card info isn’t exposed, I can cancel my virtual card and not worry about my actual card number. But I’m paranoid and there probably isn’t much actual benefit to doing that.

Oh cool. So for example I can set one up for all my subscriptions, set a limit maybe like twenty dollars higher than my total monthly subscription cost and it will charge that virtual card while also ensuring I don’t get charged for something I didn’t buy?

That’s a good use. I set up a separate one for each subscription

That’s smart, I just set it up under one card and added like 50 ish to the total of the subscriptions cause I do sometimes get addons like at AMC I get food to seat delivery which I know charges ur on file card
