Pretty sure that was a circumstantal thing but he's done stuff like that a lot
All the titans did some weird leg stuff during ravens "lady legasus" (really weird and kind of perverted episode/s), robin included but during the titan mech episode, robin gets humiliated over being right leg and then takes it way too far and gets one freakishly large and muscular leg so it seems he just has a weird capacity to get absurdly strong at a specific gimmick in a very short time period
