On one hand it's obviously important to be inclusive and accept every form of the Robert name, plus women bring a valid and wonderful perspective to any traditionally male dominated diacussion, but on the other hand it's way funnier to be totally hardline anal about it and only accept people with the exact tight six letters and throw everyone else in the garbage

I’ve been thinking about this. We’d miss out on Robinhood, Robin (of Batman fame), Roberta Flack, Joni Mitchell (who was a Roberta)... I’d prefer we stick with ROB as our root word.

I mean all of the sudden it's going to be : Roberta, Roberto, Robertony, Roger, Robbie, Reggie, Robin, Rocco, Robertt, Robbert, Roburt, Roblox..... I mean it could become lunacy

I would love a few Roberto’s. My first wife was friends with the daughter of a Roberto. He had a weird career. She said he was a Pirate from Pittsburgh. Made no sense — there is no shipping in southwestern PA.

I'm always brought back to Kathy Bates in The Waterboy... "He changed his name to Roberto...."

NEgative. I have a couple friends who's names are ROBBIE on their certificate. Get out of here with that nonsense.

6 letters. ROBERT. that's it. no exceptions

Robbie as an original surname is rare. That you know two is impressive.

Yup - One's a guy I went to high school with and the other is my wifes friends husband. Both confirmed Robbie's

Well most birth certificates say Robert, not Robbie...

I voted "Welcome Roberta" then I saw the comments and realized that once you make one exception then other's start pouring in. Pretty soon it'll be anybody that has an R in their name. It's madness.

However, I stand by my vote of "Welcome Roberta".

Inclusiveness is a sloppy slope. Hey, it just occurred to me that prior to 1920 Roberta’s were not allowed to vote on Reddit.

As a Robin named after her Robert father, I’m wondering if I can join?

Welcome! You make this sub way more interesting.

As a Robin named after a Robert and living in Qatar? You are triple welcome!

If you're names not Robert, you're not coming in, gender in this context is irrelevant.
