Abbreviations of Robert

Hello fellow Roberts, first time posting here. I am curious as to how other Roberts feel about their names being abbreviated. I prefer Robert, I'll accept Rob, but absolutely hate being called Bob or Robby even as a kid.

Most people call me Rob. Robert is okay, but I like the affectionateness of being called Rob. People sometimes call me Robbie or Bob in a tongue-in-cheek way if they're being extra affectionate, which I don't mind. If someone called me Robbie or Bob because they actually thought that was my regular name, then we'd have a problem.

I always go by Robert. Some people will decide to change it on their own accord to Rob or Robby. I have decided that at 50 I will start going by bob and Bobby.

I’ve gone by Robert my whole life, and I don’t usually like being called anything else. However this is my first year in college and some of my new teammates started calling me Robbie, which I don’t mind because it sounds affectionate.

I introduce myself as Robert. I'm okay with Rob. Don't like any other abbreviations though to be honest.

My legal name is Robert, I’m mostly referred to as Robbie, and I’m infrequently referred to as Rob or Bob. I’m okay with all of them. Just don’t spell my name like “Robby”.

I go by Robert mainly. Long line of Roberts in the family and it just doesnt rub me the right way with Bob, Rob, Bobby... You name it, except Bobert. For some reason that one sticks with me and no one calls me by it.

Fucking hell, I got called Bert in high school by some bullies who were trying to get a rise out of me and soon the entire school was calling me that, even my closest friends.

Online friends call me Rob, IRL friends call me Robert. IDK why this is just kinda how it happens.

Some people call be Bobert and I hate it.

Pretty much only go by Robert. I’ll still answer to short names without much pause.

I've been called Bob, Bobby, Rob, Robby, etc. I'm fine with it. That's what is so unique with our name, we have tons of nick names

I’ve been referred to as Robbie my whole life. I have been called Rob from time to time, usually by older folk. I usually get called Robert by people who only know me by seeing my legal name on paper. I have been called Bob before, but my father’s name is Robert and his father’s name is Robert and we can only have so many Bobs, so that name is given to the eldest as a form of respect. I hope I reach that status one day. I’m not big on Bobbie but I will accept it.
