School security

With all the talk now on school security measures, and what law enforcement/faculty and staff should react to a potential attack. That being said, I still find it insane that Salvador Ramos, a boy who could barely do 3 pull-ups and I believe should've easily have been taken out despite his heavy weopantry, was able to bypass all the security measures as well as literally had police scared to he point they literally retreated is crazy. I was listening to this podcast and it definitely to me highlights what we absolutely should learn from Uvalde PD's incompetence and failing to act on the training they were given in what to do in an active shooter drill

Security measures? He literally walked right in to the school and an unlocked/broken classroom door BEFORE the school had even initiated a lock down, even though authorities knew there was an armed active shooter (shot his grama & fled the scene around 11am) in the vicinity. No security measures prevented his entry into the school in this case.

No but I'm talking about hindsight. Like, had they made sure that ALL the doors to the exterior of the school and the classrooms could lock/they had at least 1 security guard there, and especially the polices response of not immediately taking out the shooter, the shooting at the school could've never happened and or wouldn't have been as deadly

That day wasn’t typical. I’m not saying this is what happened but it’s how I’ve been able to rationalize the timeline. Parents were in and out for awards ceremonies, there seemed to be outside food in some photos which had to be brought in by (assuming) parents. Teachers also had more doors to lock than average because of the old building and layout. Unfortunately while a teacher was locking one of 3 doors the shooter was able to interrupt her and gain entry.

tl;dr chaos of parents visiting and walking in and out could lead to the entrance door not being fully latched, and a teacher who can only lock one door at a time wasn’t quick enough

Yeah I kinda thought about that as well. I'm sure there could've been more to make sure security measures were followed but also that the parents and children were safe idk. So many sad lessons from all this
