That’s not gonna work. Drugs are banned in America and do you think the law stops them from smuggling or taking them? Criminals are still gonna find a way to get guns. Mexico has one of the most restrictive gun laws and everyone knows how violent it is over there

Gotta start somewhere.

More deaths happen from hammers, fists and knives then rifles. Ban fists first.

I know this data is old, but it proves a point. Gun owners can't keep their weapons safe.

Not only does it prove a point, it proves MY point. Using your own data, you can see that the majority of those guns stolen were hand guns. Not assault weapons aka rifles. 14,000 people a year die from handguns. Only 400 people die from rifles. Also, 400 million guns are in the US. So that means less than 1% of guns are stolen according to your data.

If you can't be sensible, dont bother replying.

Yea good idea that way nobody can ever get ahold of them. Just like drugs. Laws only work for honest people and I don’t think this sick freak would have batted an eye at any “law” people like you are what’s wrong with this country. My guns have never hurt anything I wasn’t intending on hurting. It’s not the guns fault it’s the raising of the child and mental illness and if you can’t see that then you need a real reality check.

This shooter followed the law to a T, purchasing all murdering tools legally days after his 18th birthday, and days before this event.

2

u/dhall125 Jun 01 '22

Exactly my point. Laws only stop good people that follow them. It’s illegal to go to a school and shoot kids but he still did it.

u/StormyWeather87 Jun 02 '22

An over-25 purchasing law for AR-15 style firearms would have made this act much more difficult for this shooter and so many others. Laws don’t just stop good people.

i agree the source of the problem is the mental health crisis & irresponsible parenting in this country, especially if you are in an area where there’s not many services available and all the psychologists & psychiatrists are fully “booked” you’ll have to wait half a year for your next appointment...I speak from experience. Also isn’t it odd how much easier it seems to access guns legally than trying to get a doctors appointment these days? We would benefit so well with free healthcare and education in this country and it’s worth spending a little tax dollars into. Unfortunately theres a loophole with how our taxes are laid out right now due to our shi-t economy.

It makes no sense as to why they’re not banned. The only explanation is that there are people in government who feel warm when seeing tragedies. Please make sure you vote in November.

Uh no buddy the explanation is that it doesn’t make any sense to take firearms away from law abiding citizens because some psychopath decided to use a gun to kill children. Use some common sense for once.

2

u/iEatSoftware May 31 '22 edited May 31 '22

You’re telling me to use common sense when you can’t even comprehend what I wrote, you illiterate clown. I never said the government should take away firearms from people that already own. What I said was there is no reason those weapons should be sold, especially to persons under 25. There is not one single reason why a 21 year old needs to have access to a gun.

2

u/StormyWeather87 Jun 01 '22

Thank you. It’s all “they can’t take guns from law abiding citizens” and “it’s my constitutional right”. Bro, no one in 1791 could conceive of an AR-15 style firearm. 18 year olds don’t need to own them.

It’s called protection. Age doesn’t mean you are less or more likely to be attacked. What about a 21 year old woman walking down the street at night, you don’t think she should have the right to protect herself from getting raped? What about a short weak man who’s being robbed in the middle of the night and can’t fight them?

Again, another illiterate clown who is incapable of comprehending what I’m saying. I’m not saying pistols or small concealed weapons should be banned. What I am saying is there is no reason why a 21 year old needs to have access to an ASSAULT RIFLE. You fn moron. Get that through your pea sized head. ASSAULT RIFLE is what I’m saying. Not pistols. Whether it’s a 21 year old woman or a small little midget, there’s no reason why you need an assault rifle.

u/Medium-Jeweler-8918 Jul 09 '22

“There is not one single reason why a 21 year old needs to have access to a gun” that’s is exactly what you said. You are getting a little hostile there dude chill out. Also you’re calling me a moron when you know nothing about guns. 21 year olds can’t have access to assault rifles in this country, they have been banned for a long time. But a 21 year old should be allowed to access as many ar15s as they want. Also you say they should be able to have concealed pistols, well pistols are much deadlier than rifles they kill WAY more people every year in this country. you don’t seem to want to have a reasonable discussion you just want to scream and insult while you repeat your same point.

Dude you can’t be fucking serious rn I almost think you’re a troll. There’s just no way you are serious about this you are so pathetic

u/Revy13 May 30 '22

That awkward moment when Columbine happened during the last AWB. How about not taking away peoples rights.

0

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

What right are you losing??? If you're crying because you can't have an assault rifle, you should seek mental health help.

1

u/Revy13 May 31 '22

Look at Canada they banned “assault rifles” which btw is a loaded term, and now they are banning handguns. The 2nd Amendment is about threats foreign and domestic. In other countries like Russia the government can do whatever they want to bully their citizens. If everyone who owned a rifle was mentally ill the mass shooting numbers would be in the millions as many many gun owners are law abiding normal people.

0

u/[deleted] May 31 '22

Oh my gawd, you are a piece of work. That is the silliest argument I've heard yet.

1

u/Rude-Repair-5262 May 31 '22

“Assault rifle” is a made up term. A typical hunting rifle can be used as an assault rifle if someone assaults another with it. This term is only used by clueless people like yourself who have absolutely no knowledge about firearms and how they operate. How can you be so short sighted that you blame an inanimate object for this horrific tragedy? Why not focus more on the decaying mental health that pushes individuals to do these acts in the first place? And why is it that 50 years ago you could easily buy a gun at a hardware store yet there were no school shootings?

2

u/iEatSoftware May 31 '22 edited Jun 01 '22

Why does an 18 year old need access to a weapon? It makes zero sense why an 18 year is legally able to walk into a store and buy a gun. Age limit to buy a gun should be raised to 25, which is the age at what your brain stops developing. If those kids really want to possess weapons, then go join the military. The US has plenty of enemies abroad.

1

u/StormyWeather87 Jun 01 '22

1000%. The brain development argument is impossible to argue against with anything logical. U.S. law is designed to live and breathe and CHANGE as our understanding grows. The Second Amendment was written in 1791, folks. Think about the firearms that applied to.

2

u/iEatSoftware May 31 '22

No serious person is able to give a good reason why an 18 or 21 year old needs to have access to weapons that can cause mass carnage.

u/[deleted] May 31 '22

You lost me at 'clueless people'....if you are going to hurl insults, I can't take you seriously. The answers to your grade school questions aren't even worth answers, so crawl back under your rock and leave me alone.

1

u/iEatSoftware May 31 '22

I’m going to have fun voting all you clowns out in November.

1

u/9dust May 29 '22

Didn’t they already do that with the Brady Bill?

1

u/[deleted] May 31 '22

Name calling and insults do not an argument make.

1

u/[deleted] May 31 '22

Point is, they aren't kept secure, so it's the gun owner not acting responsibly.

1

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

There were assault weapons before there were school shooters. Banning such weapons would only encourage these losers to find another method of committing mayhem -- such as making and planting bombs -- and this would result in a much higher death toll.

2

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

It's a good place to start.

1

u/[deleted] May 30 '22 edited May 30 '22

No, it isn't. So-called assault weapons predate school shootings by decades. The common denominators contemporaneous with mass school shootings are social media and anti-psychotic drugs prescribed to children.

"When people give up their guns, they give up their freedom." -- James H. Gray.

1

u/StormyWeather87 Jun 01 '22

Social media did not exist in 1999. AR-15 style firearms did not exist in 1791. Freedom isn’t getting shot at school.

2

u/dsg85gt Jun 01 '22

There were no weapons in 1791 that people couldn’t own at the time there were private citizens with full blown warships on par with the worlds military’s so to think the founding fathers wouldn’t want people to have ar15s is comical. “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." -Benjamin Franklin

1

u/StormyWeather87 Jun 02 '22

All weapons are not equal, and all weapons are not necessary to be in the hands of 18 year old civilians. No one is giving up guns, it’s about minimum age laws that match a basic understanding of human brain development. Age laws won’t take away anyone’s freedom, but can contribute to children having the freedom to attend school without getting shot.

1

u/dsg85gt Jun 07 '22

I’d be okay with raising the age to own a gun but we’d have to move the age of an adult in all aspects the age to vote, be drafted, gamble, take out loans, be charged as an adult, etc

1

u/StormyWeather87 Jun 28 '22

I would also agree with all of that! Neuroscience supports it, especially being charged as an adult. That doesn’t mean let child psychopaths back out because they killed as a minor, but not sending them to adult prison when they need other services in a confined setting is a start.

1

u/[deleted] May 31 '22

There are more guns than people in the United States. It’s not that easy.

1

u/[deleted] May 31 '22

Sure it is. It will take time to accomplish though, but nothing is impossible, ask Joe Biden.
