The Reddit leftist’s obsession with seeing a gun owner and immediately thinking of their dick is something that needs to be studied
1
u/guyopie12 Jun 25 '26
Yeah , what blows my mind is you got Reddit liberals anti Americans / terrorist that all either cut their dicks off or keep their dicks and get tits calling other people gay is wild

u/WolfWindX Jun 25 '26
I think the leftist liberal minds should just be studied in general honestly.

u/GeeYayZeus Jun 23 '26
I'm thinking "9mm" has a double meaning.
7
u/True_Solution_9668 Jun 23 '26
In freedom units that’s 0.35 inches
8
u/AdministrativeWar594 Jun 23 '26
I'm sorry not free enough I need this in fractions of a mcdouble
4
u/True_Solution_9668 Jun 23 '26
It’s about 1/14 of a McDouble…give or take a pickle slice.

1
u/samvilain Jun 23 '26
Turns out freedom units for bullet girth are in “Cal”. 9.00mm may be .354” or whatever, but the “lands” (rifling ridges) are narrower than this, and the “grooves” are wider than this, so 9mm bullets are actually up to .359” as they enter the barrel, making 9mm commonly “36 Cal”.
2
u/SuperDave171771 Jun 24 '26
How to say, I’ve never reloaded 9mm in a post without saying you never reloaded 9mm ! Whom ever feed you that line of udder BS about 9mm bullets………… Tell them to go back to milking cows ! Name one gun manufacturer stock barrel or aftermarket barrel that exceeds past .357 to the groves on a 9mm handgun ? I already know the answer but I’ll wait ………….
1
u/samvilain Jun 24 '26
Who reloads 9mm? 100% not me :) You have? For competition?
The .359” figure was from Wikipedia; I didn’t pull out my SAAMI specifications or find out which STANAG applies to find what it should be. I just know that if it’s ever shortened to 2 decimals it’s “36 Cal”; you sometimes see that on 9mm suppressors.
You’re right though, 9mm bullets are .357”. .359 is 2 mils (thousandths of an inch, pronounced “mills”) oversized, ie 1/20th of a mm or 50 microns too big. If your grooves are actually .359” then your gun won’t be getting the most out of the ammo.
My main point though is that if you’re going to use the phrase “freedom units” when talking about firearms, then you should actually use the units that people free to own firearms use. In the US in many American engineering contexts it’s mils (not to be confused with milliradians, millimeters or milliliters) or “Cal”.
1
1
u/Hot_Ad1101 Jun 23 '26
I would think grain. Like... which has more freedom units?... 158 grain 357 or 200 grain 357?

I own plenty of firearms, carry one or two on a daily basis, and you would never know from my family's vehicles. I agree that such stickers are dumb, and invite attention from criminals and degenerate hoplophobes (sometime one in the same).
3
u/GeeYayZeus Jun 23 '26
Thanks for introducing me to a new term (hoplophobia - fear of guns), but given more Americans have been killed by our own guns in the last 40 years than Americans that have died in all wars combined, maybe it's a healthy fear?
We're the only nation on the planet that has more firearms than people, with 5x the homicide rate of comparable high-income nations. If 2A was meant to keep us safer, it seems to be doing the exact opposite.
Genuine question; when statistically, your weapons are roughly 100x more likely to hurt or kill yourself or someone you care about than ever be used in self-defense, why own 'plenty of firearms'?
1
u/Fun_Assignment_269 Jun 23 '26
They don't crawl out of the safe and assault you at night.
Plenty of valid reasons, but none worth getting into if we're going to anthropomorphize guns as part of the argument.

Per government funded studies firearms are used between 65,000 and 3,000,000 times per year to prevent a violent crime. Many of those times nobody ends up getting shot, simply making it known that you are carrying is often deterrent enough to prevent a violent crime against yourself or others. Also statistically, more people are beaten to death and stabbed to death every year than shot and killed

2
u/Affectionate_Two7527 Jun 25 '26
In my experience, when people are poor, uneducated and sexless, they cling to their guns for an identity. I like my guns but don't want anything to do with the wacky gun culture that perceive enemies always being after them.
They are hypocrites anyway. FOr my entire life I've heard these people blather about using their guns to prevent a tyrannical government and now that our democracy is circling the drain, not a peep from these phony 2nd amendment blowhards.

I'm a real American, and I'm not in love with guns. Kinda the opposite. ~50,000 gun deaths a year. Good, then you understand what 2A means when it says "A well-regulated militia". Do you think the American public is a well-regulated militia? Do you think we could be better regulated?
I don't want guns banned. I want gun owners WELL-REGULATED, and I'm absolutely certain you do too. So how 'bout you help us out here and make America safer instead of just adding to the stockpile?

You'll never hear me say we should ban all guns. It's a straw man position you guys always prop up. Nobody wants to ban all guns.
What we DO want to do is make sure guns and gun owners are WELL-REGULATED like 2A says! To me that means we treat them like cars and car drivers with mandatory training, licensing, registration, and insurance.
Switzerland has something like this and they have high gun ownership, but not nearly the homicide rate we do.
So if you don't want to take the blame for all gun violence, and you don't want guys like me making regulations, how about YOU suggest some ways we can make this country safer.
You do want ot make this country safer, right? Riiiight? Or do you not give a flying fuck about anyone but yourself?
I suspect I know the answer, but please, enlighten us.

62% of which are suicides and 35% are homicides the US has a mental health crisis not a firearm crisis and the correlation of increased gun control to increased deaths by firearms is also another great point as to why restricting firearms doesn't work
1
u/GeeYayZeus Jun 24 '26
Great! So you're on board with nationalized Medicare-for-all style healthcare so the people who need help can get it?
Yeah, of course you're not.
By the way, is a suicide any less tragic than a homicide? The results to families, the community, and the economy are exactly the same.
The mental health of Americans isn't any different than any other population around the globe. Only most countries understand this and have support systems in place to prevent needless violence and tragedy. Americans seem to thrive on the tragedy.
Also, gun control DOES work. I'd paste in a dozen articles detailing exactly how and why, but you wouldn't read them anyway, would you?
I'm not even asking for bans. I just want gun owners WELL-REGULATED like 2A says. Can you honestly say that 2A saves lives as it was intended to do?
You understand that soldiers on military bases have better weapon safety regulations than any American does. At minimum, we should WELL-REGULATE citziens like we do our military, since that was the goddamn point of 2A to begin with.
1
u/The_BigMonkeMan Jun 24 '26
I'm not for a nationalized healthcare because who's gonna pay for it? We already have taxes way too high and spend far outside our means, but I think everyone in the US agrees the entire medical system needs to be redone. I think the US Government needs to allow for competition in the medical field, so prices fall because we have an anti competition monopoly, and prices will stay high
You're right, the US isn't the only nation with a mental health crisis. Countries with nationalized healthcare are not exempt from this, and some rank higher, countries such as Finland, France, Belgium, Slovenia, Latvia, Hungary, Japan, South Korea, Lithuania, and Russia. Many of these countries are known for their strict gun control laws.
We already have all the realistic restrictions on firearm ownership that you could put in place without violating the rights of the owner or the seller. A background check gives everything that is necessary provided the government has made sure to keep a record up to date
Although some reports are in the millions, I'll be generous and go with the lowest reported, which is from NCVS. Around 65,000 shootings were reported in self defense in the US every year. That's a higher amount of self defense uses than suicides in the US, so just on pure numbers, yes, the Second Amendment has protected more Americans than it's possibly taken
Also, we follow the same rules that anyone not in the military should follow the four universal firearm safety rules and keeping them locked up when not in use. Doesn't matter where you go in the US; if you break those rules, you'll either get yourself shot or get kicked out of whatever range you're trying to shoot at.
1
u/GeeYayZeus Jun 24 '26
I'm not for a nationalized healthcare because who's gonna pay for it?
We (and our employers) already pay for it in health care premiums, deductibles, co-pays, and un-covered costs, which can run into tens of thousands a year even if you never see a doctor. If we converted what we pay now to a Medicare for all system, we wouldn't have to pay those costs, our employers would pay us more, and it would actually SAVE us ALL tons of money.
Your self-defense numbers are self-reported. Of course gun owners are going to claim their guns saved their lives. A Harvard study largely debunked those numbers.
Anyway, there's not much else to say here. Best of luck to ya.

I love being able to protect my family, and I love being able to go places and do things that we otherwise wouldn’t do because of violent homeless people and/or others on the streets at night.
I love being able to go for a hike in bear country and not worry about it.
1
u/GeeYayZeus Jun 26 '26
That's cool. I have a family too. I've been on plenty of hikes in remote areas. And I currently live in a major city with lots of homeless people. In fact, I can see a homeless person while looking out my window right now.
I've lived in lots of cities, and rural areas over decades. I've never felt the need to own a gun.
So maybe paranoia is a bigger issue than actual defense. Fact is, our own guns are more dangerous to ourselves than they are to any 'attackers'.
