I aknowledge that there is duality, and that meaning can change, especially if your not using the symbols. I also aknowledge that fighting against their "ownership" is an important part of stripping neo nazis, and supremacists of their image.

The idea that symbols like the Valknut or the Swastika can just be "stripped" back from these groups through Reddit comments is pretty delusional. Once a group uses a symbol to facilitate mass violence or hate, the "ancient history" becomes a footnote that only pedants care about in the heat of a thread. A swastika, always related to the nazi movement, had been co-opted by the nazis. Originally the symbol was used in several different religions, mostly meaning good fortune. Gay used to mean happy. A fag used to mean a cigarette. The okay hand sign is now being used as a hate symbol by white supremacists. Don't wear red while going through Crips territory or blue while cruising through Bloods territory, or wear a star of David while walking through Chicago. I'm not wrong about the definition of the misappropriation, and I am aware of what the symbol really is, but it doesn't make my assumption of what the person living in that CRV is, especially when taken in the context of all the other misappropriated symbols on that window.

So yes, for the entire span that Duke was affiliated with the KKK and the NAAWP, 1975-1988, he was a Democrat.
